Thanks Dazzle and the Wilma's good reply's karma+ However LMPD'S nomination was for HORTS to be our next strandee. Who was pm'ed and accepted the invite. It is obviously taking a time for him to respond so thanks for filling in the Wilma's and Dazzle.

Therefore our next nomination will be Jive Dubbin. I have pm'ed him and he has agreed to be the next strandee.

  5. Bring it on!!!

Ok so this is going to pieces a bit , the person who is last on pms someone who they would like to nominate as next guest - if they accept they then post up and they in turn nominate the next guest .

to recap , i nominated lmpd , he posted and nominated horts , meanwhile dazzle and wilma stepped into the breach with a post , wilma then nominated Holmsen but i jumped the gun and asked jivedubbin , jivedubbin is unavailable until later this evening so --

Could Homsen please post up and i will go stick my oar in elsewhere ,it will soon sort itself out -- please don't post until your nominated :-

    The guest poptop2

    question

1 -- What got you into late bays .

My father in law and a old friend geoff more ( vangoff a airbrusher ) they were both vw mad and i eventually bought my first bay from Lou's dad in 1978 , a k reg Danbury .

2 - what is the first song you would have on your desert island and why .

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Piano Concerto No. 21 - Andante

i first listened to this when i lived with my grandparents until the age of 7 i probably heard it from the day i moved in ( 5 months old , it was my grandfathers favourite , he was a gentleman and my best friend , i get emotional each time i hear it , i miss him even now .

3 - do you regard yourself as a lifelong vw fanatic or are you just going through a phase in your life .

i have had vws campers since i could drive 1978 , i like driving them , camping in them and the look of them and will probably have one in some shape or form until i die , so i am a lifelong user but fanatic , probably not , i know they can be as much trouble as fun and my mechanical abilitys are very limited .

4 next song choice and why

In 1984 Lou and i had driven to Calabria southern italy in our camper , one early morning we were sat in a small piazza in a quiet coastal village called Belvedere maritimo and wafting from a first floor window came this wonderful tune , it was being played by a now friends daughter on a grand piano which had the whole room to itself , unforgettable moment .

    Für Elise (Piano version)

5 - What do you do for a living at the moment .

i drive lorrys delivering carpet, Kidderminter was once famous for it , i work for one of the last remaining carpet factorys , i regard driving lorrys as a bit of relaxation after working for myself and employing people previously as a builder , i am also a qualified structual engineer but have'nt work at that since the mid 80s .

6 Third and last song choice here .

This was the most difficult but i suppose i have to plump for Debussys clair de lune as my son plays it so well and its grown on me since he's perfected it for A level , so it will always remind me of his determination not to give in.

Claude Debussy- Clair de Lune (piano)

7 - Do you frequent vw shows and if so which one do you enjoy the most , if not , do you intend to visit a show in the near future and which one .

Not many these days , lack of a roadworthy camper has been the main reason , we did go to the first vanfest and most of the subsequent vf shows , we enjoyed camperjam last year and always try to attend dubfreeze .

probably enjoyed cj the most because of tlb members .

8 - Could you ever see yourself making a living from your vw passion .

No , maybe i will write a book about our campers and our times in them at some stage but having friends who write and seeing their disappointment at being rejected makes me wonder if i could make any money from my efforts .

9 - what one single camping item could you not do without in your van

    Kettle

Now nominate the next guest from the tlb members list and your reason for nominating that person ( it may be polite to pm them first ).

Ok just to get it back on track and i really would like to know more about this very witty man , i have met him but he was dresed as a beach hut at the time so i was kind of lost for words , however poor dress sense aside i made the asssumption he was suitably nutty enough to be on my buddy list and i nominate --

    Jivedubbin-- yay

  13. The guest (holmsen ) .

1 -- What got you into late bays .

3 - do you regard yourself as a lifelong vw fanatic or are you just going through a phase in your life .

Been doing this since i was 17, driving air cooled vw's that is :)

4 next song choice and why

Might as well keep me in shape,,some good dance tunes from these old guys should take care of that
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WJhcEnBM70#

5 - What do you do for a living at the moment .

Working for the same company that paid me to buy my first vw ( 19711302s)
My job is to keep the cu/copper network in working order for Telenor, it'slike British Telecom

6 Third and last song choice here .

I'm bored, desert island life ain't fun, good vibes is needed
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfhHJkYE9vs#

7 - Do you frequent vw shows and if so which one do you enjoy the most , if not , do you intend to visit a show in the near future and which one .

I do 3-5 a year up here, there's maybe 10, 11 shows during the summer, and i try to get to one in Uk with or without my camper/Losen.

8 - Could you ever see yourself making a living from your vw passion .

    :) that's a big no.

9 - what one single camping item could you not do without in your van

    my coffee pot

Now nominate the next guest from the tlb members list and your reason for nominating that person ( Para, you'r on ).

  15. at thus -

    The guest Nigel aka Jivedubbin.

    question

1 -- What got you into late bays .

When i was about 20 i had a job with Indesit as a service engineer and with the job came a brand new and shiny bay panel I loved the feel of that van , the only downside was it had a tacho and i had to pay for out of ours use , anyway the years passed without so much as a beetle when one saturday morning kate and i were having breakfast in bed when she mentioned that a bay she had seen on the way home from work the previous evening, had some how looked quite interesting . A light bulb came, on in it was straight on Ebay where we saw Ella for sale and within the week she was in her new home .

2 - what is the first song you would have on your desert island and why .

last night DJ Robbie and Chris anderson

This song is somthing we dance to at jive its just a great song that gives me a buzz every time i here it

3 - do you regard yourself as a lifelong vw fanatic or are you just going through a phase in your life .

I cant see an end to it its the fun of driving and owning a VW camper and every thing that goes with it and the eclictic mix of people you and the devotion that some people have is just amazing ,

4 next song choice and why

Touch and go - Tango in Harlem

Touch and go this song gets under my skin , also great to jive to
5 - What do you do for a living at the moment

Im a self employed Plumbing and heating engineer , been doing this for 35 years but not always self employed

6 Third and last song choice here .

The Jive Aces present: Bring Me Sunshine

Jive aces bring me sunshine , love this group and love the way they have put this classic together, a good song for dull days

7 - Do you frequent vw shows and if so which one do you enjoy the most , if not , do you intend to visit a show in the near future and which one .

yes some but not all shows , Camperjam is a must and really looking forward to the spring camp i would rather do the un organised than the for profit type show , although if you want auto jumble then shows are very good

8 - Could you ever see yourself making a living from your vw passion .

not a chance , but i would love to visit california buy buses and send them back here to sell , i love the idea of tinkering.

9 - what one single camping item could you not do without in your van

Sorry did'nt mean to control things but it was getting out of control , if the nominated guest does'nt post up in a reasonable time i will nominate a guest from a list of people i have already pm'd .

i thought Holmsen would say a bit more about his need for speed , at least i was hoping he would , he's obviously very modest , nice response all the same .

the thought of jd and Kate scrambling under the bed in the dark in the the early hours looking for a laptop to find a bay made me smile - i know he never wrote that but thats how my strangely wired brain deciphered it ,.

great replies guys thanks . karma has been added .
