too it out for a first run the other day, drove averagely. what do you all think i should be looking at doing to getting this engine to run at its best? ie working with what i have 1.9 wbx
oh and could feel lots of clunks in the steering wheel when i went over bumps, what is that all about any ideas?
Replace the spark plugs, leads, rotor arm, cap and maybe the coil as bound to be past its best by now. Also replace main fuel filter and clean the hidden filter in the carb. If you remove the fuel inlet pipe and carefully screw a small screw in the pipe a couple of turns it'll then pull out. Clunks in steering when going over bumps. Could be main balljoints, or most likely tie rod ends. Check the 4 steering rack rubber mounts too (where it attaches to the chassis) as they wear and cause the rack to float about.
thanks Zebedee. i was reading this last night http://www.rjes.com/html/conversion_overview.html i am soooooooooooooo tempted.
Made this the other day for the dash. Wasnt jointed properly more like glued and pinned, but i got all of the patterns from it for making a duplicate if i decide it doesnt spray well.
i normally use stuff called Pre-Cat pigmented laquer which is enamel based, but it means that i dont need an airfed mask. On this one im using 2k though as i want the same colour as the van will be eventually.
got my lhd multivan interior with captains seats and rear seat/r&r bed and a top locker with side cupboard, door cards in grey and rear sides with table etc. awesome. now to convert to rhd......
found the two colour codes the other day, cant remember if i said or not, but this is the original bus colours mixed some up in 100ml qty for each colour just to see what its like ane this is the exact colour code matched on a proper system gram per gram. think i want to put a white pinstripe down the sides and tailgate, and probably spray steels white because these colours are quite dull on their own and i dont want to go down the deluxe trim route as that is pointless. Anyway, ive nothing else to say, except i am probably going to get the rest of the blue sandblasted off in the near future and then i can begin a prep for spraying before winter sets in as i am itching to get this new interior in. PSG
Blue over blue. Nice colour combo, though i am rather biased. Mines Capri blue over Marine blue. Yours would have come with the roof the dark colour and the panels below indicator height the lighter colour like this i think:
also i had a dialemma. ive just bought an original rubber mat that spans the entire cab floor, over the central area with gaitor for gear stick, and it comes with the walkthrough matting with handbrake gaitor. Now, my van being a caravelle has a center tunnel, but i have no gaitor and not sure if i like it. Should i remove and sell centre tunnel and fit the set of mats - i plan to rubber fit the rest of the cab floor/tub area like i did in the bay. Or are centre tunnels majorly important? I am trying to hybridise a caravelle and multivan.
