Indeed. Cheapo off fleabay ages ago.
Blasted them off, bit of silver and hey presto!
Made the centre caps to clear the hub nuts and £2 Porsche centre caps.

 

Couldn't find any big enough!
Porsche ones come in a bigger size than VW ones and I have a source of them for £2.
Keeps the numptys guessing too.
I could stick VW stickers over the top if I find some.

 

You seem quite proficient with tooling. If I send you some sizes and a centre cap would you mind making me some cap adaptor thingies like yours?

Will pay mucho dinars, gutted that my nice abt centre caps won't fit due to the hubs poking thru the wheel centres

Those Merc ones are mahoosive. The i.d. is 78mm.
I did these for Ted ages ago.

Consensus is down two splines at the back and a central, welded on lowering kit like this on the front.
I have to say it drives remarkably well, the horror stories appear to be over exaggerated.
