It's normal for the bearings to be worn through to the copper... you've pointed out that they are original bearings, so 40 years of use.... That's not bad dude Try doing the same with a lawn mower engine Cam bearings should look like this... But I often find them looking like this... And sometimes you find mains that look like this
The other two are still white metal, just the drive end that's worn through, makes sense as all the weight and the drive is that end. I'm really happy with the mains, not even a hint of copper on any of them but as advised, I bought new anyway.

You grind the rivets off on the cam side... drive the rivets out, drill the holes out to 8mm, and face the cam on the lathe so the bolts have a flat face to bolt down on to
Definitely not dude!! You could end up being off from the cam by 1/4 of a thread, and your gear won't run true then!! Special cam bolts and thread lock is all that is needed
Finished the wheels today. Quite pleased with them given the entire expense so far is £90 (excluding tyres).
