Reckon that just about covers it.
Unless you have a collapsed stud footing that needs welding up which I had. Will see if I can find some photos.

  3. Filled the Swedish washer bottle up. 7 litres! Had a snooze after all the exertion.

Ex river cottage chef now doing campsite dinner parties in Axminster and cooking out of a cast iron bath tub with the enamel removed. We had a great couple of days and ate well.

Topped up gear box oil. Last year this ran really low, but when I filled it I noticed that breather was blocked, so poked it free. Good news is this must have worked as needed no oil this year

Ordered 2 new rear tyres. Old ones managed 12800 miles before the camber scrubbed the inner edges almost to cords.

  9. Are you putting Tabasco in it ?

I had one where the casting was so far out the thread cut out the side! Was a VW one too.
I got lucky, one nut was 1/4 turn loose. Job jobbed so I sanded another 20ft narrowboat side.

No, you should only use Tabasco with Mexican bays

Here's what I had done a few years back on my CA 1700 . Still had to rework the heat exchangers. Engine lasted around 5 years later but due burning lean dropped a valve seat and mayhem ensued.

When I first had a van, it also had a 1700, but heads were 10 a penny. I remember plundering them just for studs as it was cheaper than buying them!

  14. Similar story with old British bike stuff . Bought spare engines and indeed full motorcycles because they were 10-a-penny and nobody really wanted them , had to pull the plug when I had two lockups stuffed to rafters with 26 bikes and associated crap !

On the bright side it contributed to a divorce so win - win

Obviously it didn't take 4 1/2hours. It took 6, including 2 pits tops, each 25mins.

I have had to re-seat a tappet as I was going crazy trying to work out why after adjusting/setting the tappet with the feeler gauge in place it felt really loose once the feeler gauge was removed.

Some very careful slow grinding and filing took place....hopefully it will last till I find some replacement tappets.

A few years back, there was a batch of really soft tappet adjuster screws doing the rounds. At one stage Heritage even admitted there had been an issue.
    Annoying.

Expect you have a complete set to replace.
