Can we change the title to what have I not done today!

Put in a new (bought months ago ), fuel cut off switch. I had bench tested it before doing all the hard work ..fitted it all and Nada, doesn't work. Had a friend test it and he agreed it's foooked. So took it all apart and ended up back where I had started this morning, but much grubbier hands !

Are you sure Chris? Is it one of the ebay green coloured ones for about £12? The on/off confused me at first. Try it with the switch opposite way to what you think - I think mine is "on". I don't think you can use it as a tap to switch off the flow with ignition on as a security measure, which I thought you could.

I'll try it again, but I assumed it would open with power and close with no power. So positive to +ve terminal and earth to something that looks like an infinity sign.

Sounds right and with the lever on the side in the "on" position.

  5. The lever is a manual bypass in case the solenoid fails, if that makes sense?

    I suspect you are correct.

Thus far I've 'sorted' 5 of the little gits. Also found that a cork rocker gasket despite being fitted new 13 days ago, will not seal again. So another new one has been fitted.

It took me a while to work that one out when I fitted it, i.e. it will bypass and let fuel through all the time with the lever in the "off" position whether the ignition is on or not.
(I hope I've got that right )

  8. I don't recall which way, to be honest, but it's easy enough to check, I just pull the 12v line off the spade and wait for the engine to die.

@Mark Darby & @F_Pantos, I'll try that as I only checked it with the manual cut off in the open position. Cheers

  10. Dismantled my Eberspacher rheostat, and appear to have knackered it. That'll teach me to have an enquiring mind

Just got the wheels left to do and then I can relax and think of an embarrassing outfit to wear whilst I drive him to the prom in it

@Mark Darby & @F_Pantos, thanks for your help. I tested the shut if solenoid as suggested and it works....manual switch in off position and power opens:)

If you are using Bugpak/EMPI rocker covers, if you trim 3mm from each end of a cork/rubber seal with a pair of scissors, they lay flat and seal without any sticky stuff. Then when you put them on again, a little wiggle with light pressure to persuade the flattened bit into place over the mating cylinder head metal face and they dont leak either..

With the new exhaust fitted, I've been able to book an MOT for next Thursday. In celebration, I treated him to a new set of windscreen wipers.
Having read a thread on here from a month or so ago with wiper recommendations, I've gone for the standard 16" on the passenger side, and pushed the proverbial boat out for a 17" on the drivers side. It's just one wild adventure after another here at Chez Scrooge95. A slightly longer wiper blade on one side, I can hardly contain the anticipation and excitement!
