Spent nearly an hour to remove the windscreen wiper arm as completely fused on the splines ( took two kettles of boiling water and god knows how much wd40 and then another 45 mins to get the inner spindle to run freely and not twist the whole mechanism around as also corroded together - then needed to find a new rubber washer of which the washer inside a hoselock garden tap fitting was perfect then had to get under dash and straighten out the inner mechanism where it pulled it all out of line running fused together - this was whilst on a campsite today

Good man. A bus is never really finished or perfect. There's always another 'campsite' job to be done.
It's where I do my best work tbh...:D

Yes it was installed at 116000 miles, its now at 141000 miles , so if this had been a recon, it would be about halfway to a rebuild , or if I built it or Vege built it, about to blow up with idle oil pressure issues..not yet.. still 15PSI hot idle.
The crank and conrods are original forged on these engines, as being better than what is cheaply available new.
The slivers of seal in the flywheel nose seal groove ..could have been the seal trapped during assembly and noticed and replaced, or just the seal got sliced .

The main engine seal wasnt leaking in a major way but there was a small amount of oil around, as I had a spare and the flywheel was off, I replaced it.

Finished off all of the work on the engine. Got it running but the idle was all over the place, and it would lean out and stop with a pop.

Took it for a drive to the local pick your own and it hesitated and crackled on deceleration, stopped at junctions.

At least the clutch was really nice..

Got back expecting all my shaking the engine had blocked the idle jet...

Looked again at the engine. Swapped the fuel tank breather line and the vacuum feed to the air cleaner/hot air flap.. both manky old fabric covered hoses.

    Problem solved.

Messed about with the syncro cyclone filter.
It's temporarily fitted and we've got a run across to Aberystwyth later on on the week where we'll be green laning in the T3 and camping in the bus.
That'll be 300 miles or so round trip. It's just taped and cable-tied on so if I see any performance issues it's easy enough to rip it out...

  6. Does anything whizz round inside it, or is it passive like a Dyson?

It's passive, but they're really effective in the wbx syncro:thinking:

Disconnect point for minimum fuss should the sink need to be removed…which currently is a dozen times a day whilst I figure this all out.

Well crikey, I did something. I filed the stubs of my new to me oil encrusted ebay HX's level, removed some tinware the silencer and one HX. There's a screw stuck on one of the under tins that I need to remove to get the other HX off so I gave it a good squirt of plusgas and called it a day. Phew. Pity really, I might have followed through and finished the job otherwise... or maybe not, was looking for an excuse to stop the moment I started. So lazy these days!

I am, but the downside is that it's harder psychologically to work on my bus than when it was just more spannering. The workshop was handy too.
