  5. I'd slacken them off then tighten them again with its feet on the ground, or your bushes will be in a twist.

  6. no problem, nobody likes a twisted Bush

Never thought of that. Probably a bit late for me as I've done 500 miles on them.

  9. Worth doing, as per Haynes. If you tighten them up with the wheels dangling, the bushes will twist when the wheels are on the ground again.

And maybe a play with some air tools. Having that bit of success with my sliding door the other day gave me a bit of a boost so I may get in the garage this weekend. Got to paint the underside of the buggy too and check his rear brakes.

The day took a turn for the worse for the driver of The Sunshine Variety Bus…

  17. Chased endless trivial probs that were convincing my alarm that a front door was open. Sorted...after about two hours  Finally managed to shut it up.

Started at 1530. Took the engine out changed the clutch, and the crank and flywheel oil seals.
Put the engine back, by 2030, well 4 bolts in and tight.
Sheared a heat riser bolt on the exhaust so theres some work tomorrow before I put it back and put the support bar back .
Wasted over an hour fiddling getting the engine back in, then fitted a bit of thick ply to the motorbike jack and bolted it down. Engine went in after 10 mins.

One side of the clutch facing the crank was oily and slipping. The other side was doing all the work and the pressure plate was starting to discolour..I noticed judder on first few gear changes then occasionally I would have to check I was not riding the clutch after gear changes as it slipped a bit sometimes just after a gear change. Plus showing signs of the oily muck dragging so sometimes it wouldnt fully disengage.

Noticed some bits of very old flywheel seal or maybe silicone strips came out with the old seal. Probably causing a leak..

PS I did do up the gland nut to 250 ft lb. I checked...

This is all after 25000 miles. (Edited)

Bunged some beer and the dog in it, and drove to the New Forest for the night. The rear brake and handbrake fettling earlier in the week has resulted in no longer needing to leave it in gear when stopped. Happy days :)
