You should be able then to pull the hub off the splines from the outside.
You only need to faff on the driveshaft side with circlips if you want to change the bearings.
Maybe need a puller to help it move, but the splines that drive the shaft in the hub are not particularly tapered, its all locked together by the torque of the big nut. Try putting the nut on the end of the thread a few turns, tap it in with a hammer and pulling the hub off by hand. Its nothing like the steering box nut.

Read the first part of this to the point of removing the hub ..

My work today was to disable the battery charger in my combination inverter/battery charger - it had been occasionally tripping the 3 amp mains breaker, but getting more frequent until it finally failed.

I bought new parts to repair it, but I suspect the Curse of the Shenzen MOSFET, in which the clever people in China find a cheap tiny silicon die, fit it in a big power MOSFET package and print whatever part number you want to buy on the outside of the package. And sell it on eBay at a competitive price. They dont half go bang!

I removed the diodes on the mains side of the battery charger, so the inverter still detects the presence of AC mains , and switches over from hookup mains input to inverter output if the hookup power fails.

I have bought a separate Nordelettronica NE287 motorhome 12 amp battery charger/maintainer to use instead.

My mileage in the bus is about 3300 miles since this time last year. About 6000 less than usual.

Fitted the new battery charger. Both the 12 amp and 17 amp sized Nordelettronica NE287 charger/power supply units do not use fans so they suit my home office in the bus.

    https://www.12voltplanet.co.uk/nordelettronica-ne287-12v-battery-charger-12a.html

    Took about 1 1/2 hours.

So far another plus is the charger has a relay to disconnect from the battery when the mains is off. And it features proper CE compliant mains filtering. It weighs 1.5 kg compared with about 0.1 kg for the Taiwanese charger module I replaced.

Had a go at getting the sliding door to stay open as the van had to face slightly uphill otherwise.
Sort of sorted with removal of the middle catch and a light smear of grease
Clicks nicely now and holds but I will have to take the door off soonish to do the rest of the mechanisms.
