  1. It’s not the same as dragging a car with the handbrake on onto a flatbed Transit in the middle of the night ;)

You are going to hurt the robot in the door if you shut it on their hand. Cruel to tape its fingers down too..

I snapped in the end and bought the genuine £37 each VW ones after various boots failed after as little as 3 months. Still Ok after 2 1/2 years.

Eventually decided to make and fit the cab table as I had sourced the bits and pieces quite a while ago.
I'm pleased with the result due to being able to make use of my new router.

  13. As an aside @scrooge95 , that green shock is probably from the original build , I was told this by an old boy back in the 90s when he did some work on my return from my forrin escapades...
Mine were the same, in fact the whole underside was painted green from the factory , I changed my rears for the first time in 2018 and they still damped as they should so don't worry about swapping it out - it'll probably still be fine

Can I ask... How do you get the bit off with the 5bolts on. I want to change the backing plate. I've taken off the big nut but then.....?

  18. Long time sunce I did it, but from memory you need to disconnect the driveshaft and knock the stub axle out of the bearings from the inside. Then you haven’t got the hub flange in the way.

I took both hub carriers (the heavy bits) off to redo everything, but i don’t think you have to go that far to change the backplates.

I think I'll leave it for now as I don't know where to begin with what you've said.
