  1. Spent another hour beating sidestep fragments out of the jacking point, after it had corroded itself in. All done now. Stuck me finger sander up them, followed by a squirt of Dynax. Brazzy jack now fits all of them  A warning to anyone intending to use their jacking points in the future.

Grovelled under the bus to check for rot. Apart from surface rust, nothing serious, thank goodness. Cleaned out bottom slider track, no rot apart from stripped paint where the roller runs - great design, VW. Not. That got the Dynax treatment as well.

    Thanks :)

I ordered early may with a fifteen day lead time, which suited me fine, I could plan accordingly. The minimum order was £50.00 though, again no problem!

With the lovely classification of 'historic'

And how scary is this.....as mine is a 1979, every original, ie not Brazillian or water pumper, Bay that you see will be tax and mot exempt!
    Makes me feel old.....

  8. Indeed. All the German ones coming up to "Historic"

I put a cable tie on the top end of my dipstick boot to match the one on the bottom and wiped up some oil so I can see that it still leaks.

  12. Removed one rear drum, cleaned and freed bleed nipple and one star adjuster, the other won't budge :( Drum looks fine, plenty of meat on the shoes, brake plates need paint, adjuster bungs missing

If you unscrew the bolt part from the adjuster and wind a longer M8 bolt in, after it bottoms out...

    Remove shoe
Remove the "bolt" the shoe sits in.
Replace with hex head bolt, keep going when the bolt bottoms out and it will push the brass adjuster out without damaging it.

Waiting from JK to get a 420mm brake pipe to turn up for the other side. Then I can get it off the stands and concentrate on the rears.
