New rear shockers arrived, so I thought it would be rude not to fit them.
Despite the ones on having "made in Australia " stamped on then, they came off without a fight....have yet to find any bolts on the bus that I would consider "tight", which makes life much easier.

Probably a lack of corrosion from having been in Australia.

Decided to start trying to fix the holes in my heat exchanger skins
    [IMG]
I found that if I clamped bits of flattened copper pipe behind the hole, it was much easier to fill the holes without making new ones. The copper takes the heat away well and the weld usually doesn't stick to it.
And having a copper barrier there helps form the inner side flat enough not to need grinding back - nobody will see it anyway
    [IMG]
And that's good enough for me :)

  4. Had a long overdue go at tidying up my overstuffed-mattress dash wiring. Progress is being made.

You've got the bug now, haven't you?

  7. No choice. When I put the Eberspacher stuff in, all the rest fell out

Started grinding off all the old rusty metal and this is what I have left,so I made two plates up with holes in to hold the bracket and managed to weld them internally inside the section to hold the bracket. Put the bracket back on, and plan to plate each side when the rain stops.

All you need to do now is swap it all for thinwall and create lots of space :D

So thats where the acid goes after it has rotted out the battery tray. It will be a satisfying fix.

Colour tested L90D on my new poptop (which the seller said was L90D but painted maybe 20yrs ago)...not a match
Compared it to inside the camper (which I assumed could maybe be L90D...I was wrong).

So it seems I have various unidentified shades of white going on when what I really want is cream, and that means a whole lotta painting.
Unless someone can magically tell me what whites I have and I can match it for patch ups.

End result, I’ve a tin of L90D to sell:

There are two formulations of Pastel White, I think one comes from some RAL colour code standardisation..

I bet you have a local merchant who can scan a "flake" for you and make some up, or give you a pigment breakdown.

  15. Yes, I gathered from research it’s not always easy to get a perfect match. This is supposed to be a VW rather than RAL colour.
Think i’ll just repaint the whole thing in cream

Been looking where to mount the MPPT Controller on Major. Sorted the location out for the LCD Monitor, then I moved on to Majors engine.

The took two pieces of tinware off the engine. Life is fast paced here :D

Noticed that the engine was running very hot, so much so the fan shroud was only just touch able.
On inspection noticed the flaps were stuck.
So off with the right lower tin ware to look for the problem. Flaps caught somehow.
Disconnected the wire at the bellows end and worked the flaps by hand to loosen them up.
Made sure all was free and reconnected the wire.

Hot test. Used a hot air gun.

Replaced the tin ware and road tested into town and back. Pleased with the result, engine much cooler, and fingers crossed I haven't done any damage to the engine.
