Took him to the shops. Might’ve taken a slightly longer route than was strictly necessary...
He needed a run as he’s been sat there in his tent for a few weeks now.
Local Co-op was pretty quiet, but shelves looked a little ransacked.

All good, put him back in his shelter. I’ll stick some volts up his bottom tomorrow, couldn’t be bothered tonight.

It was the unwiring of the split charge relay, lying on my side and keeping things tidy that was taxing All done, both batteries were happily charging on this sunny day

No thats just general oil mess. But it was exciting to see a line of smoke behind the welder. And the welder spat sparks...

No, I meant as a cause for the stop/start welding. Migs don't like even slightly rusty wire do they?

I was using a new reel. Main problem with the welder is that although it takes 5kg reels they are too heavy for it, and I have broken the reel holder by putting it down hard or bashing it while carrying it..
I think its mostly down to being a long way from the mains feed something like 15 metres from the mains socket in the garage which is 20 metres of armoured cable from the fuse box in the house...

I doubt it's that, I used mine on a 50m extension cable with no problem. 170A welder.

    That is useful to know...

I dont want to bad mouth my welder too much (I might want to flog it for pennies in the pound) but it has challenged me with issues ever since I bought it.
Its had a lot more spent on it than it ever cost me to buy. Like a Bay Window bus.

Trouble is the nice welder that was recommended on here a while back is out of stock.. surprise..
I am getting an inverter welder next time as I dont like staggering around carrying a 130 amp welder weighing about 75 pounds .. too many bumps for its little wheels. And the tow along handle snapped off..

In a frenzy of activity! I’ve fixed the sliding doors wobbly trim with a couple of screws and some brown tape on the back. This unprecedented progress led to exhuming the front door cards that have moved house twice with us over 12 years and actually fitting them! The interior is actually almost finished now, propex is working and I’ve stuck down the missing floor tiles.

Cleaned the whole of the inside out! Don’t they ever get mouldy!

Today a quick paint over filler, then a blast of thinned Waxoyl blasted in by compressed air. And stuck a bit of closed cell foam in the hole in the side of the deformation panel.

Rejoined a speaker cable that was sliced by a wire brush on an angle grinder.

Cleaned up dust inside. Prepared my bus to be an office tomorrow.

Ordered an inverter welder off eBay. Only a 160 amp MIG welder. Probably starting another sad story. But it only weighs 9kg ....

Taken the masking tape off gutter & roof repairs so I can finally see how it looks. Next stage is vinyl tape edging & stripes to complete the ‘styling’...which is really just a cool way of saying “hiding”!

Been sorting out my throttle, the pedal has always sat at a high angle and sometimes stuck when it was depressed (not good eh)
So i had a nose about on buttys bits site and realized the tube was the wrong way around the bit that connected to the pedal should have been underneath the bus
Anyway ive stripped it cleaned repainted it and now it works.
I've also put the original gear stick back in.
All I'm waiting for now is the reconditioned steering box to turn up.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

I am awaiting the arrival of some bullet fuses so I can replace the one that blew.

you can’t rush some of these big jobs.

  17. Interesting. I have the same (or very similar) accelerator rod etc but it is positioned on the other side of the steering wheel column from yours Seems to work ok. Certainly an upgrade from the one that snapped

Yes I've seen them with the rod at the front and the hole next to the handbrake.
Maybe mines different because it's south African?

That is a very creative reinstallation of that throttle tube.
It has ended up there probably because its usual home below the steering column hole has been blocked off with repairs...
