old newbe

i took the roof back to bare metal over the weekend didnt think it would take long but hey ho !

 

FRIDAY NITE






just seeing how much work there is todo

 

alltho no rot present i didnt know wether to strip it complete or just do spot repairs



35 year of stone chips soon helped me decide





so i just went for it

 

used a sanding disc in the grinder and a wire brush in the drill for the fiddly bits





saturday !

 

manage to get it all bare and cleaned for sat afternoon


time for some 1 pac etch primer great stuff





not to forget the all important masking paper 35p a bunble lol!

 

got about 5 coats of etch primer on there and afew coats of high build



then on with the paint sunday if the weather holds out

by the way the neighbours looovvved the smell ^-^

 

weather was good sunday so on went the 2 k pastel white



but as you can see by the camara strap the wind got up hahar

although the thread is well behind in pics and ive used and abussed it for 6months of summer 2011
i wrecked the engine as some may no
but with great joy i bring you news of the monster engine rebuild my new found friend paul weeding has just completed
the beast is ready and will be back in the van come sunday we heeeeeeee! > ^-^
cant wait will put picks up soon

hung over and just remembered im been made redundant :'(
but on a up note mr weeding is just a few hours away wihth the monster in the boot ^-^
and the other thing is i may have a new job 8)
maybe able to pay paul for all his hard work after :all

would recomend him to all type 4 owners out there hes profesional promp and a great guy but dont get him talking engines lol!

so back to the build pics
bare metalled the roof and painted




then i continued withe rest of the body work only a few weeks to go till run to the sun the pressure was on

painted down to the swage line on a really good day
not a pro job but good all the same with limited materials

 

was getting excited now ;D





my mate will putting the glass back in with new chrome rubber

 

and got the rest of van in primer for the rtts 2011
show was pants but the touring round west coast was great
