It's more that 2L heads had little valves. Ripples you can feel? I'd had replaced them too even if it did run.
Im guessing its the piston skirt wearing the bore as the piston isnt running parallel to the bore for some reason. On a small two stroke engine that would be a tight small end issue not aware forur strokes had the problem but hey - its a guess.
dunno Dicky, they are not deep ripples as you would expect, only very slight but enough to feel with your finger and they dont run all the way along either, its just localised. If the piston was slapping round in the barrel, would this give deeper grooves/ripples along the whole of the bore?
1800 goes up to a 1911cc 2l goes up to 2056cc you can go bigger on both, as you can get 103mm pistons, but this requires case and head machining... or you can just go longer stroke crank... my engine is a 78.4mm crank, and 96mm pistons so there are quite a few engine combinations once you start messing with crank and piston size!!
