it looks as though it gets worse after cornering then burns the excess oil off. It was better coming back home, nowhere near as bad!
Get the oil level correct and take it for a long hot fun and see if it calms down Overfilling the oil will push oil into the combustion chamber and even out of the breathers
just out of interest what oil are you using in it? you could try using a slightly thicker oil just to see if it calms down, especially as it's probably gonna need rebuild anyway.
the over fill was only on occasion of mork following me (thought it would be funny to loose him in the smoke rather than just out running him )but the oil usage and smoking etc has been like it since i put it on the road
no 6mths left but it won’t fail on emissions going to do a compression test at the weekend and then possibly take the engine out if i get time
Most places don't like doing aircooled heads, as they can bust them... My local place will do them, but charge the earth for the pleasure of doing so!! I've started fitting guides, and recutting the seats to match... saves a whole wad of cash... plus I don't need to go out to get them done
Major now has 12 months MOT (advisory on wheel bearings, they have bedded in coz they are new & a slight oil leak from the crank seal)
right finely got the thing running again (ropey leisure battery !!!!!!!)and loads of other crap going off ) i ve done a comp test on 3 cyl 1 = 128 psi 2 = 125 =psi 3 = epic fail 4 = 100 psi the epic fail is down to this think the threads are the remains of a helicoil as i can’t get the comp tester in theres a lot of oil around no 4 cyl and similar story underneath also no 4 exhaust recerculation thingey is cross threaded to you can nip it but always works loose so it gets very noisy so am thinking along the lines of scrapping that head but what else may be needed
The thingy is called a "timesert". Maybe get another put in and helicoil the other EGR thing would save you some £'s?
Yeah maybe any guess where the oils from I noticed that on pic of a new one (coolair) there some sort of breather pipe in that area
It might be from around or even through the oil pressure switch. Or past the distributor if the seal needs replacing. It looks like a small leak over a long period. T4 engines, being robust, do suffer from an extreme lack of maintenance and are often found needing lots of hardened/cracked/worn seals replacing.
