Oil shocks don't have any spring - they just slow the movement so they're prob ok. Gas shocks do spring back out. I thought mine were ok (gas) and they passed the MOT, but my tyres rubbed so I risked replacing them like for like. The new ones are twice as stiff. Moral of the story - if it ain't broke, fix it anyway.
