  2. Wow, as mork said its easy to forget how much work has gone into it, great recap, now get out there and get us some updates ;)

  3. You have come a fair way with her dude
I find it helps to look back at what you have done once in a while to spur you on

  4. i think your right i do like looking back at what has been done.
as for getting out there back under it im afraid work and now a bad back has stoped play :-[
plus i need my mk1 gone to fund new shiny bits

  5. Well today after so long it seems without a grinder in my hand I set off in to the garden to repair an engine lid , not mine but as a favour for giving me a tow bar for the van .
And after also test fitting the tow bar it looks to be a good fit with the start off the 2 bolts that hold the ball on are sitting level with the out side of the bumper :)
Then after repairs to the engine lid and a sand down of the tow bar both got a little bit of primer , still need to flat a few bits out of the lid and prep under it abit more but it's covered for now [IMG][IMG]

  6. Right after a play with the tow bar I think it's were I want it , but the centre bar that comes of the tow bar does not sit behind the iner valance Like I thought it would so my plan is to weld a threaded bar to the inside of the rear valance that can go all the way throw the middle bar if that makes sence , as the middle bar is a tube plus this means I can set the Hight better before bolting it all up [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  7. That's looking really good, I'm glad you could make use of it, good idea about the threaded bar.

I'm sorry I've not been in touch about the engine lid - I'm on leave for a week from tomorrow onwards so I'll be in touch about collecting it off you.

  8. No probs thanks again for the tow bar , I've sanded your engine lid again as I wernt happy plus I've drilled the snapped thread out and taped all of them for the hinges , should be ok now

  9. nice work mate, how much have you got left before you can get it on the road?

  10. Cheers Diddy , I've still got to paint the bottom half fully and fit a new door and finish the sliding door too .
Then it's little patches of weld he and there then fitting lights etc and tune the engine and check the brakes before the next MOT but time is something I've not got a lot of lately :( but I will crack on soon

  11. sounds like it should be on the road for next year mate :)

  12. I'm hoping so but we may be having an extension on the house which is were the bay lives so it will have to be moved to another house Which will stop play .
Also have to move the trailer tent and my mk1 golf .
May do abit once I'm home today it's just been that long I don't know were to start again

  13. We're getting an extesion on the back of the house next year too,

I'm wondering if, once the walls are up and the roof on, if I can get the bus in there >:D .....would make a good spray booth >:D

  14. Not a bad Idea I'm still checking the sizes for the garage door to get the bay under .
I need 3 lots of steel work just in the garage to give me more room internally .
    It's all good fun
I just want some were a bit more out of the wind

  15. Ash slam the bus then no problems with any garage - you know it makes sence

  16. That idea did come into my head Dale got to be easyer than chopping a bit of the pop top

  17. well after booking a week off and starting back on the van today i can say im sick of it allready .
last night i went and got a passengers door for 135 in very good nick as the other door got damaged when takeing it off but after sanding it down and alittle bit of paint the new door still dont fit right ,better than the last door but still miles away so the only thing i can see to do is cut the bit were the door bolts to the van off and move it and then re weld it on were i need it .
im just racked off that its still not right with another door
so i will be moveing the van around tomoro to do more work ,more than likely in the rain

  18. Chin up mate, I'm sure your get that door to fit correctly by the end of the week and get loads of other jobs done too. Just hope the weather improves for you.
I've got some door fit issues to sort out on one of my doors too. The A post seems to have been welded too far forward from day one at the bottom and I never noticed. Looking back at old pics it's always been like that. Kicking myself I never noticed when I welded in the new arch and fitted the new front.

Hope you get pleanty done this week.

  19. cheers busman im hopeing to get the door fitting right then sort the sliding door out ,once there done hopefully be painting the bottom half ,with the old roller just to get a good coat on before the real cold weather sets in .

the door i brought is better than the last as there is no filler in it and only needs a small nock takeing out once fitted
still think it will rain all the time im out there

  20. Keep chipping away at it bit by bit dude and you will get there in the end

Im also working outside and its not pleasent at this time of the year
