  1. Decided to have the exhaust Teflon wet spray coated by a mate off mine not to bad and it will cope with the heat too .
First blasted lightly then sprayed and baked [IMG]

  2. Final got a few hours on the van today and started on the jacking points that need doing .
Not the best finish with seem sealer all over them but you get the idea I just hope there in the right place lol but the strong and not going any were now [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  3. Been in the shed sanding and priming my open quarter window frame once it's dry I'll wet flat it all for a top coat as its brushed on . Only thing is do I paint them with the jet black 2 PAC I have or buy some satin black in a spray can ! I personal think the jet black will look fine but I don't want it to stand out in the bus to much . What are your thoughts .
Was thinking about getting them powder coated but its as easy to San and paint them at home and I don't have to take the glass of this way [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  4. Just to add I did sand the rust off just did not take many pics :)

  5. Looking good Ash, coming together now

  6. It's getting there Cheers mate , just picking them jobs of one at a time

  7. Went out to sand the primer down abit then a coat of jet black , this is the first coat and it don't look to bad .
I ended up painting them jet black as I don't really want to pay for a spray can of satin when I have lts of black in the shed , I know it's being stingy but ow well more money on other parts :) [IMG][IMG][IMG]

  8. Little update , I've lost the will to carry on today as it's took me ages to fit and weld one rear jacking point and one out rigger , everything I touch ends up looking crap or needing far more work .
I just want it back on the road now so it's weld the under body build the doors and wire the bus up then hit the road ASAP .
A mate of mine wants to go the south of France with me in the van but In about 3 months which means I've got a lot to do to get to that .
Here are the pics from today did not take to many as I was stuck under the van most of the time [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  9. Also forgot to take the front door off today so I've been back out to take it off due to the fact I need to paint the top half so I can rebuild the quarter light window and main window and door seals etc .
So I set about painting the top half of the door with a paint brush only but have got a nice finish for the first coat once flatted and painted again it will be better [IMG][IMG][IMG]

  10. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

It does take age dunnit? Just keep plodding along and you'll get there.

  11. I hope so the list is getting smaller but it's taking to long
Think I've got all the parts I need to get it on the road now to

  12. I decided I do not want to go to work today so I had the day off took the kids to school and set about lowering the back of the bus , way job I thought ! How wrong I was after finally getting the out spline off I could not get it back on and the result is I've ha to take the hole swing arm and brake setup off to the take it apart and fit the plate back to the splines .
But half was into striping the plate of the brake setup on the floor I smashed my finger with a large rubber hammer as I was trying to crack a bolt :( this made me feel very sick , dizzy and hot so it stopped play once I chilled out and when to the local a and e I final packed my tools up and looked over what is need to fit the back end in .
Turns out a new drum and shoes and back plates as there not the best , anyway here are the pics I also need to have this all fitted soon as the van needs to be moved to get my trailer out [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  13. Little update , I've ordered all the parts to rebuild the rear brakes even down to the dust caps on the bleed nipples :)
Hopefully have the other parts cleaned and re fitted then build the breaks up .
Hopefully thats the last of the main parts needed the others all little things I can get as I'm driving it

  14. Ok got ran out of things to do in the house so I went out and cleaned and pained one of the rear arms . Id rather have it all powder coated for a better finish but It will do as it is [IMG][IMG]

  15. Keep at it. Your making good progress! Hope the finger is ok now! And hey we see shiny bits! :D

  16. Cheers dude I can move my finger more now hopefully get home today to my new parts then I'll rebuild the one side hopefully without smashing another finger up :/

  17. Fingers crossed (pun intended - well it was when realised what was typed) they do then! Hoping the wire brushes we ordered appear today - not enjoying the use of the domed ones! ::)

  18. Lol the wire wheels on the grinders are great just watch your knuckles or you will have hands like mine .
I use them sanding pads that have a few layers of sand paper over lapping each other it's great for smoothing welds but hates under seal and they can wear down fast

  19. Your going about it the right way dude cleaning everything up and replacing the worn or damaged parts
It will save you a lot of time and hassle further down the line when your using the bus

Just be aware that the new back plates may foul on the drums as they often do

  20. Well if I don't have to change them for a while now , and it helps if I can stop the bus too :)
I'll have a look at the back plates once I'm back as they are at home now . The wife is stuck with a big parcel in the kitchen :) cheers dude
