But what's your solution Jack, Picking holes in peoples posts coz it don't suit your agenda is'nt gonna stop people getting murdered all over Europe by people who hate you and me and would slit your throat even if you tried to help them is it, appeasing Islam is failing miserably
The West already understands they mean it, it's what is the best way to tackle it that is the pressing issue.
For a day BBC got it right and reported the perpetrator was an ISIS "soldier". All day long reported as such. Next day ISIS sympathiser. Words are important and being fought over.
Sorry but no they don't, or at least if they do our masters are more concerned with words to spout at you and I than reality. These people are soldiers, France at least is at war.
I don't know Steve but it's a worrying situation when people put their religion before their fellow human.
Who is "appeasing Islam", and how are they doing it? And, yes, I suppose I'm picking holes in your post, notwithstanding that you don't have first clue what my "agenda" as you call it, is.
I don't think it's helpful to broad brush everyone who does actually disagree with our way of life as brainwashed or whatsitalised. Would you think that a good description of your own views?
What do you base this on exactly? Do you have some knowledge about what the security services do and don't know than the rest of us, or is it just some more of your usual half baked vague nonsense dressed up as insight. As you may have said to someone else on here, give it a rest, you're insulting my intelligence. FFS when did TLB become so mean spirited and intolerant? You're welcome to it.
Fair enough carry on sucking it up, but don't put words in my my mouth please. You probably work, I don't but I listen carefully to the word changing when news is reported through the day. The BBC start trying to be clear and concise, then they are instructed to reword creating a subtley different impression. Over and over. I like to bring such things into focus, that is my interest.
That's a good point, it's all too easy to lump a whole section of the population into the same pot. And yes we're all probably being brainwashed ourselves.
It's symptomic of the political view that people only have political opinions that are spoon fed to them. I find that insulting, so do Russians, Muslims...
I agree - British born Muslims have a right to be here - my niece "married" a Muslim born in Manchester of hard working Pakistani parents - he has a PhD in chemistry and is westernised in outlook but is a strict Muslim with his food etc. (but he never actually married my niece as his family wouldn't accept her as she is non-muslim- how insulting is that!)- they have 3 children who are westernised . What I find disturbing is Muslims who are born here but reject our life style/ clothing - and insist on wearing clothing appropriate to Pakistan etc - I find that insulting as it has nothing to do with their religion (it's not mentioned in the Koran) - so those who dress as Asians are making a statement - I'll let you decide what that statement may be .
When I sat up and watched the Turkey coup unfold, you could see that a narrative was being played out by the global media. The headlines did not match the images, pro coup support was dismissed, the subject was changed. CNN overthrew the coup. This was in line with US policy who quickly announced that it opposed the coup. I mentioned before about the BBC NI not reporting IRA violence post ceasefire, lucky if it even makes the national news, it doesn't suit the narrative.
where not at fault if british goverment and bbc does not tell the british everything , we only fight mon to sat prods take sunday off
Mate, you probably don't know, but NI hits our news no more than a handful of times per year and that's probably exagerating. We are shielded from the reality to make us think everything is near as damn it sorted.
I mentioned the years I lived and worked in the Oman. Before I went I had doubts about living in a Muslim country and had some preconceived ideas about the people. I found a country with people very welcoming and kind and not at all hostile. The country was quite poor compared with the rich UAE states and Saudi Arabia, but Omanis are naturally welcoming and their historical ties with East Africa and Zanzibar meant that a lot of people from there could live in Oman. Where I worked in the force, there was a good mix of male and female employees and Omanis and Zanzibaris and I found it fascinating that the Zanzibaris could speak Arabic, English and Swahili. This was unexpected for me and I settled into a way of life where I lived in the community with Omanis as my neighbours. I did not live in some isolated compound for expats. I came to love the charm and kind nature of the people and I remember when I came back to the UK for a short trip, I found British people rude and distant and self centred. Sure there were a few do's and don'ts. And these were about respecting local customs. It was about showing respect for the people and Islam. I really despair about what's happening now with the terrorists. I wish I knew the answer.
