I agree I also thought the same but may be wrong but I did see the Mayor of Nice interviewed today. Crying on TV he's angry that after a spate of attacks nothing really happens. Just shallow words from politicians again and again. It won't stop till we get tough

I'd ask what's going on that needs a big distraction? Nutters go round stabbing people every day across the world....but this one is an Islamist, admittedly he did more damage than norm, but this is front page news because of that alone. I'd nominate that all of this is designed to diminish further rights to privacy and to teach suspicion and fear, ultimately the proles being armed and scared and easy to be kept an eye on. Arming Europe is good for gun sales, much better than wiping out Isis...
It's a tried and tested way of controlling a population to do what you want, give them something to be scared of. Historically it's not unheard of for the governing elite to actually attack their own people in order to lay the blame at the feet of their 'enemy's, so spinning a bit of propaganda will be child's play to our lords and masters.
Merkel welcomed them in. Its Turkey we should be most concerned about as it may turn into another Syria and I can foresee the non muslims fleeing to neighbouring countries like Greece as Turkey becomes more divided and isis and the rest come into Turkey and stir it all up. Then Russia starts supporting the tyrants as they have in Syria. I think folks would be wise not to holiday in Turkey with all that unrest and violence going on. The attempted coup may have failed but the fall out will last for months and further attempts may happen.
