  1. Have you ever watched them drive round and shouted choo Choo as long / loud as you can.

As that's what i would do.

And letting a defenceless child stand so close to it as well! Anyone have Social Services number?

  3. My best mate from school (we were in the railway club together!) is building a massive model of Cradley Heath and Old Hill stations (where we come from) in a garden room at his house in Kent. He has hand-built all the trackwork to make it as much like the original as he can...

That's impressive, you need a lot of dedication to scratch build that lot!

  9. Should I feel as I have missed out on one of life's great adventures, not having a model railway in my loft? ;)

PS, it's full of other junk instead

  11. I have a large Hornby Dublo 3 rail layout which I enjoyed for many years, but now all packed away. Maybe I should reinstate it as a winter lockdown project. I am old school and some of my railway is from my childhood and then added to over the years. The only thing modern in my railway is an up to date and safe track controller. I still have the original mains and battery electricals but not safe to use these days.

  12. That is brilliant - had a clockwork Hornby set when I was 5 then a Hornby Dublo tank engine set when I was 10 -left them in the loft then I got married and my sister had the loft cleared(?).
Frank Hornby lived a mile away from me on the other side of Maghull - walked through the churchyard past his family grave every day on the way to school.

  13. I love that old Hornby Dublo stuff. Lovely die cast models with real character. Sounds like a great lockdown project. Post some pics!

  14. One of the good things about model railways is ,it doesn't rust and therefore never needs welding ,I could be interested.

  16. Lots of Hornby Dublo stuff on Youtube. I like Ronald Dodd's automated layout which shows you can build a 'modern' layout based on the lovely metal clanky retro Dublo.
