Anybody else want to admit to having a model railway?

  1. Sounds like my attic - started out with OO and ventured into N gauge.

Suitcases full of cars, lorries, planes, Airfix D-Day sets.

Favourite with my eldest two was the Hornby Dino Safari set.

I've got a mountain of old Scalextric, including a TR4/5 like yours, I went through a phase of going to jumble sales (before car boot sales killed them off) and grabbing everything I could. Most of mine is 60's, some 70's and a couple of 80's cars. problem is most of the track is pretty hopeless and nearly all the cars need tyres/brushes/pickups replacing etc. I really should get it all out and see what I can do with it.

Trying to build a 0-16.5 model railway (narrow gauge based on 00 track) in between other hobbies. Did a steam engine driving course on the Peak Railway at Rowsley.

  12. I've got a model HS2 running round my garden, had to fell a bit of ancient woodland and kick a crested newt in the nuts, but its quite snazzy.

  14. Did it cost a fortune, and you never use it?

Did you to struggle to turn it off, only to realise it was not designed to stop anywhere near where you live?

@Fruitcake brilliant thread Paul, great one to start! Lovin the layout youve built, looks superb :)

Keep the pics coming, enjoying seeing what everyone has / is building!

  16. The father in law bought my son a set that was the easy bit. It has DCC but I have only got as far as building the base board, other things such as games consoles seem to be more in favour. Perhaps next month when I'm unemployed I'll take a look and see if I can start putting some of it together; have some layout plans and under track stuff plus the special glue (why does every hobby purport to need a special glue).

Mine's held together with UHU and a fair splash of PVA , as a point of order it's a "model railway" and not a "train set"
