Anybody else want to admit to having a model railway?

I've been building mine on and off for about 3 years over the winter months. The main baseboard is 10' x 8' and I've recently added a 6' x 3' side extension. The system is DCC (Digital Command Control) whereby all locos are fitted with a decoder and controlled by an NCE Powercab that selects the train, direction, speed and lights etc. There are 11 sets of points fitted with solenoids and selected by a couple of switch panels.

All the wood was scrap/scrounged, most of the track is secondhand and the buildings etc have all been built by myself as has the wiring and landscaping. It's a long way from being finished but the enjoyment is all in the building so it'll probably never be completely done!

Not me, no. Rod the Mod’s an enthusiast though isn’t he? There was that lovely story a few years back when he stepped in when some toe rags had vandalised a model railway exhibition.

 

Yes, it was a club local to me, I'm not a member but I know a few from forums and it was pretty devastating.

 

Did they ever catch the culprits do you know?

Nope, but I do have a scalextric track setup in loft.
Haven't used it for ages though.

We live in the old station masters house and the old ticket office is next door.
A train hit the house over 100years ago so I suppose if the line was still here we could have played the real thing

Yes, the poor little lambs were told off for being "very naughty boys" and their parents had to pay £500 compensation for the £30,000 of damage they caused
