  1.

Well after an interesting week  I've got back to it, and the lower half of the van is flatted down and ready for paint

I've cranked the heater up, so come the morning all I need to do is panel wipe the van down, as I've already been over with the tack cloth, then squirt some paint on ;)

    Pictures tomorrow night

  2. Your hoping the paint pixies will turn up in the middle of the night and paint it for you arent you paul
I can tell you from experiance whatever them pixies say to you on the way home from the pub its lies all lies

  3. That would be awesome... could pay them in buttons and honey ;)

  4. LOL

Joking aside paul when youve got that split sorted and out of the way give me a shout
I get the impression its one of those jobs that you needed to take on but wish you hant done

When youve finished it get your ideas pads and dictaphone ready and ill pop up to see you for a few days

I reccomend we get hammerd the first night and write some ideas down
Second day we will walk to the top of that hill at the back of your place and have dinner and a smoke on the top then write a few ideas down

Last day we will have a walk around my bus writing ideas as we go along and generally chewing the fat about vw stuff

  5. Sorry went of on a tangent there

I meant to say make sure you have a rest after you finish that split but not too long of a rest lol

I know myself how much life a resto sucks out of you and i also know i do the best i can after a rest and refreshment

Either way dude give me a shout and whats that hill beind your place called?

  6. tangents are good ;)

I'll be getting stuck straight into yours once the split is done 8) Got a busy year this year, so I want to get some bits done and earn some money!!

btw, I picked up a galv chassis for the landy, complete with axles, 300tdi and box 8)

  7. Nicely done on the galv chassis dude that will make a big difference to the rebuild

  8. indeed... makes it that more sale-able too  Just means that I'm not replacing big chunks of chassis, as it is pretty bad!! Only thing then that needs major surgery is the bulkhead!!

No pic updates for tonight, spent the day slowly building up the seams as I was still getting a little bit of paint thinning on the edges... looking pretty good tonight, so I'm going to give the van 2 coats of top in the morning, so hopefully it'll be looking good later tomorrow 8)

  9. You will have no problem selling a landy with a galv chassis as the buyer knows its not hiding any rot
Will you be getting the bulkhead galved when you have repaired it?

    Oh and

    :ttiwwp:

  10. Just for you dude!! ;)

  14. indeed it is

    Split progress 8)

This is the main reason for the flat back and repaint
    [IMG]
For some reason all the edges pulled back to the primer, and you had loads of white edges

    Flatted back

I'll de-mask it in a couple of days and see how it's looking 8)

  15. Looks great

  16. Looking good paul

  17. cheers guys

Tempted to do the same to the top half now

Engine bay is next on the painting list... might get that done tomorrow 8)

  18. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo the top looks fine ;)

  19. As far the paint thinning at the edges and showing the primer through im wondering if its somthing to do with the pigments that make blue

Ive had the same happen with dark blue enamel paint before and that was remidied with flatting back and a second coat

  20. something to do with paint thickness/pigmentation I guess... seems to be ok now I did the seams and the shuts first, then painted it all again today!!

Just something to mind for the future paint jobs 8)
