  1. Is it quiet? I have found them a misnomer.

  2. Indeed. They’re not quiet. Loudest noise on my bus.

  3. No....Its louder than I expected but I quite like it (not sure the neighbours will). Not that much louder than the standard one I had but a much deeper note.

I'm expecting the volume to decrease a bit once I sort the blowing bits on the heat exchanges.

    No it doesnt get quieter.
But it seems to pay back by Not Rusting, and the bus did go a bit better when I fitted one 8 years ago. Still working today..

Good for reverberating sound effects in tunnels and Cotswolds villages . For quiet,
I just roll into the neighbourhood at idle in third gear...

  5. Went for a drive in it.......
Sweated loads as the windows didn't want to open...handle worked to glass didn't move.
Back to take door card off to find the bottom holder had come off so took it apart and cleaned it all up, then put it all back together and working again.
Door card seen better days and no plastic membrane so will look at sorting that aswell.
Can you use any hardboard or is it something special....for the £40 from the usual suspects I could make dozens... and someone wanted £10 for a plastic membrane...it's a piece of plastic for god's sake...

  6. Added a 12v socket to charge the phones...was gonna buy one but found one in my box of “spares” - result! Then replaced the headlight bulbs with some Osram Night Breaker Lasers. Then adjusted the beam so I will be able to see more than 1 metre in front of me!

  8. Good to know! I wanted to all I could to improve the lighting. The actual units are pretty good Hella ones with nice reflectors so better bulbs and beams actually pointing straight out rather than down will hopefully do the trick!

It can be cut from weatherproof mdf. And B&Q painters dust sheet and double sided sticky tape to hold it on provides about 6 doors worth for £10 or so.

  11. I have done nothing, but it turns out that my old m8 Trigger, or Michael Carpenter to give him his
full moniker, won best in show at the Haggity Festival of the Unexceptional with his gorgeous ADO 28.

I have never known anyone talk so fast in my entire life, but that aside, a lovely bloke.

  12. Today I read a fairly long thread about some chaps on here getting stitched up by another Late bayer. Gutting, So how about a positive story...

A massive thanks to @Nils who’s been involved in 3D printing 72-74 indicator switch parts. I bought some and now have a fully working indicator switch! It now doesn’t turn on when I drive over a pebble, (which previously nearly caused an accident, when someone pulled out of a junction, they thought I was turning into, because I hadn’t noticed I was indicating, at 50mph) and they even self cancel! I’m not overstating it when I say it’s changed my whole driving experience for the better!

    Cheers @Nils.

I’ll post how I did it, in detail, on my resto thread, Pearls Rolling Resto.

  13. Removed, disassembled, cleaned and reassembled the rear brake pressure regulator. Full of ancient carp, but now shiny clean inside. I even managed to keep the seal intact...

  16. Finally adjuster rear brakes and handbrake, may even get it off the ramps tomorrow!
Even though it doesn’t need one, dangerous thoughts of going for an mot are circling in my mind.
May have to have a lie down!

Top work. I'm interested in that 3d printing bit. Could you put me in touch with the person who does it please?

  19. Pumped up the tyres, filled up the washer bottle. Then took it to the garage for its MOT ... it passed, the certificate confirms that this year I have done just over 1,100 miles.
