I had bought a spare EDIS-4 ignition module off eBay, complete with a plug and a bit of wiring harness, so I tidied up the ignition module wiring, and reinstalled it with the "new" EDIS instead, so the old one that I took off is a known good spare.. 20240505_150402.jpg 20240505_173031.jpg

Removed the cover, started up after a little bit of churning away and backed out onto the drive. Checked round and then went for a short drive around the block. Put him away again, the horn isn't working so I need to investigate...maybe tomorrow.

I had a drop of oil on the driveway after about an hour’s drive.
Had a look, 2 pushrod seals were leaking…. I suppose not bad out of 16.
Noticed when building the engine, when you fitted the pushrod tubes until you heard a “click “, the head side seal was just visible…I must have missed twisting these two back a bit.

  7. Can you just twist again, like you did last summer?

Drove it to work after having taken a well used heat exchanger off, rolled the heat exchanger around and welded it.
After about 5 miles a thin wisp of smoke started coming out of the hot air vents... which increased and decreased with engine revs and was a bit worse after going up hill.. had to wind down a window and the smoke went out the window.. not pleasant but had to be done as I needed to burn off what was obviously oil disturbed by work on the heat exchanger.
Smoke mostly stopped after 35 miles..

That's the sort of wiring that is getting someone taken to court in another thread :D

    Oh dear me :(

That’s no good. Error on my part, over zealous adjustment of the right hand rear brake shoes.

I had a spare new pair so a quick repair and better adjustment.

    ‘Years of practice’?

    Yes, "years of practice. "

But definitely not often enough to get really good enough. I know enough to know its bad, but not that little more that makes me think I am an expert.. see Dunning-Krueger effect.

Washed it then changed a front wheel bearing set as it started thumping going to TE.
    20240511_144731.jpg

I think the root cause may have been a gouge in the hub where the bearing goes in- slightly squashing the bearing out of circular..
Thats been ground flat with a Dremel this time.
The gouge was put there by myself about 5 years ago, I think.

  20. It's somewhat disconcerting when that happens, especially the first time. The temptation is to run around the back and see what's on fire.
