  1. Do you think that was the cause of your fuelling problem snotts?

  2. Maybe. I may have unfairly blamed my old Brosol pump. My Dells are deffo running out of gas.

The mystery is: why did I fit a bit of aftermarket toot on a new engine? Can’t remember o_O

Were you helping yourself to the ever growing pile of stuff over your fence?

You looked at the OG one, decided it was a bit worn, bought a replacement and it wore away fast, so the 'worn out' old one ended up better.
Proving the point that you should never throw original German parts away unless they leave as a bucket of rust or filings...

  5. Lol. Only crap goes over the fence. I cherish my stash of old 1970s bits.

  7. Had a concern fuel was leaking into oil so on @snotty advice ordered a service kit for my carb from machine7...ordered Tuesday at 5pm and it arrived in Wednesday post, that was quick.
Today was whiz off the carb, clean it up a bit and change the valve. Bung it all back together and change the oil and filter.
This kit came with the correct thickness gasket but I will still keep my eye on it and check the bowl levels..
    Cheers snotty:hattip:

  9. MOT day, every year I get all concerned the tester is going to find a great list of issues that will need rectifying no matter how many times I’ve checked the bus over prior.

Well it passed no problem as it usually does , but why I torture myself over it I’ll never know.

  10. Order (and fuel pressure) is restored...

  12. Shouldn't need them on Aeroquip, but everyone bottles it and puts a hose clamp on :).

And no, you can't have my 123...

  13. added some storage for the kids stuff at the back

Sorted out my fuel breather which has been venting into the engine bay. Now nice and neat into the top of the carb filter!

Having got tired of mentioning the flat spot and lack of power on my recently fitted 1800 to my garage each time it went back to have stuff put right, and asking them to check the replacement correct Bosch distributor (that I was told I needed to replace the previously fine vac advance Mexican beetle one) in case the vac advance wasn’t working, I thought I’d have a look myself.

Took vac pipe off and sucked - idle rpm increased. Good sign. Stuck finger over carb vac take off barb. No suction.
Had a closer look. Found the proper vac take off barb just next to it - suction!
    Pipe back on, bingo.
Runs better - no flat spot, better torque and acceleration. Another one down to the guy who fitted my engine...

That should also fix what I suspected was lean running causing slightly higher temps due to having a nice hole for air in the left hand carb plugged.
Now to check the wheel bearings and change the oil/filter again.

Cleared 14 years of clutter out of it ready for Camp Bestival next weekend, and made some wooden props to keep the roof up now the boy is going to sleep in it.

Finally! Finished painting the underside :D. A couple of bits like the front beam to paint black, then Dynax, before bolting anything on. #gettingthere
