    Good luck with this.

My local aircooled specialist just registered a US import in under a month.

If the docs are all good DVLA are quite efficient.

My fingers are crossed for you.

If you get the right hole:
Should be no vacuum at idle but as soon as you crack the throttle open it uncovers the hole and off it goes.. that would be correct one

On USA buses there can be a vacuum retard that does the opposite for emissions reasons.
And there is also a vacuum takeoff for the hot air flap which has vacuum from idle to near WOT.

Drove it to work and home again; had lunch in it. It was so hot in the bus my phone refused to take pictures.

I fitted the stove pipe that ducts warm air from the exhaust into the air filter this afternoon. It’s a fiddly little sucker.

I bought that flexible connecting hose at Volksworld but just hadn’t got round to fitting it

Will hopefully speed the transition to choke off.

Planning on a trip to JK on Friday for a new front passenger seat pad so we’ll see how it goes.

  10. It won’t change the time it takes for the choke to come off

    Thanks Mike.
    They’re Dellortos so not standard.
There was the very slightest amount of suction on idle but much more on open throttle.
The reason the idle speed increased slightly with the pipe back on the right barb I had put down to sealing the vacuum leak from where the pipe should have been. My finger over it had the same effect.
I don’t know what the other barbs (there’s one on each barrel -see photo) are for but they’re all seemingly closed off under all throttle positions. For draining perhaps?
*Not having a vac gauge (or much knowledge of these things) I improvised with a wet finger
Likewise sticking the pipe in my gob and sucking to test the vac can.

Certainly seems to have done the job although I’m sure it’ll need timing and tuning properly by someone who understands these things now the bits are in the right places, but it goes much much better now.

  12. They’re air bleeds on each barrel for tweaking. Your pipe should go on the one above.

  13. Removed both door cards. Replaced furniture and reset both windows which have never quite sealed at the top. Vinyl flooring to the van in mock whitewashed floor board and re-carpeted the cab. Oh and drove 80 miles in this heat:rolleyes:

Back to work tomorrow to earn the dosh for new seats!

I never really looked at the others closely until now but I can see now you mention it. Is it possible that they’ve been set up incorrectly and maybe both adjusted wrong? cos it doesn’t like it that way round, there’s no suction on the one above.
Also the one the pipe is on is bright brass as if it had been covered previously, while the others are all dull.
Confused now. Finally got it running properly after 1200 miles of flat spotted sluggishness!

  17. Summut not right there, fella. The brass air bleed connectors should be nipped up tight. You only loosen them when you’re tweaking the bleed screws next to them. If they’re loose/open and sucking, you could get an air leak that’ll upset the mixture on that barrel.

The upper one is the takeoff for the dissy (if the signal matches the dissy, which it may not).

  19. Fitted the dipstick oil temperature kit I’ve had for a while but never got round to. Thought it was prudent given the forecast and off to Dorset soon. It’s somewhat temporary though, I still need to fit the gauge into the dash, but it works.
