  1. Know the feeling, I was like that but it was a lot longer than 3 months.
I forced myself to go out and make a start, and what do you know, I got back into it with a vengeance! (Even if I do keep missing my own deadlines) :)

Oh well, the fuel hose did not go so well. The hose clip did not go quite straight so it leaked. The engine foam seal got eaten by the cooling fan.

Took engine out Thursday night, strip engine down to fan housing off Friday PM after I bought spares at the new GSF in Eastleigh.
Removed firewall and reattached hose clamp straight. Replaced all the breather hoses while I was in there.

Tightened up loose screws... vibration...reassembled engine and then decided to strip flaky underseal from nearside rear wheel arch . Looks like welding will happen soon . Slapped on underseal and put it back on four wheels.
Adjusted sliding door catch bowden cable as it has started bouncing off the rear catch when you shut it.

About to go for a test drive.

Started up on three cylinders. Had knocked plug wire off. Also earths on offside rear lighting cluster.
Then when I got to Tescos, opened the slider and the rope loop I use as a cheap door closer handle hooked on the door track cover and folded the corner back...

  3. Fought for an hour to get a set of Taylor plug leads onto my van. Never again.

  4. Just to add insult to injury , what were wrong with the old ones ??

    :hattip:

  5. Nothing. I'm suffering buyer's remorse. Save your money, get a set of Berus.

Mopped up all the water from the cargo area after a drive along the motorway in the rain.
    Swore at the sliding door.
Glued the sliding door seal back together where the painter got it out of the way by cutting it during the respray (grrrrrr).
Scraped stray gorilla glue off the paintwork half an hour later.
Mopped up more water where the seal doesn't seem to fit properly along the top anymore either after it's run-in with the painter.
Ordered a new sliding door seal.
Made a vague attempt to empty it after two days of camping, but gave up as it is still bucketing with rain and I can't be arsed getting wet.

I'm pretty sure it's got it's lips and flanges in the right places (I can't believe I just wrote that!) but I'll get me camera out now the storms, floods, disease, and pestilence have subsided for a moment.....

    Editted above ^^ with picture.
Can't think where else the water would be getting in though - it's only when I drive in the rain, so I figured
speed + rain + cut in seal in bottom front corner + 45 year old sliding door = wet cargo floor

  16. What did he cut it with a chainsaw

  17. I think you're right. Your seal does seem to be right way round - straight lip to the front - but that cut is a right hack job. He could have fitted it without cutting it at all.

I'd get rid of all the glue, clean up the seal and try some rubber cement or somesuch to join the edges together. Might work. Failing that, new seal fitted without cutting.

  18. It won't be leaking from a split at the base of door unless youve got driving rain blowing under ur van that split is bad but if its on the base of your door the upper seal isnt fitted correctly

Motorway (60-65 mph) in torrential rain?
The top isn’t perfect, sitting in side the van with rain blowing directly at the door it does drip in a couple of places, but only every few minutes, not a continual stream. Cargo floor was flooded after an hour on the M27. Could be from the top, but at that stage there was no water on the inside of the door panel or the window, only all over the floor.
Ah I don’t know, could be either .... but glueing the seal back together might help me eliminate one possibility.
I’ll attempt to muster some strong arm help at Techenders to get the slider off and put a new seal on, and see if @davidoft wants to work his magic adjusting it
