    Checked valves.
Changed oil after a great 2,600mile trip.

  3. Nothing on the van but rang the DVLA and got a definitive answer on the MOT exemption issue .

According to the very helpful Welsh gentleman if a vehicle is listed on the V5 as Historic then it is MOT exempt and as such can be driven even though it`s not actually registered as exempt `officially` until the next time it is `taxed` .

I expect to get a few tugs on the ANPR but i`m going to drive it - when it`s finished , which will be sooooon .....

    :hattip:

  4. Thought that was the case, good to have it confirmed though, as my MOT is going to run out while I'm on an 11 day trip away in it.

  6. Been for a little test drive then filled up with fuel for my Action / Busfest trip.

  7. Thrown yet more stuff out of the garage into it as it seems no-one wants to buy it. :(

  8. Sorted the new seats into the camper.... 20180830_174623.jpg
Only took a couple of minutes,, fitted in easily

    Drove it work.
Found a split vacum hose going to the MAP sensor from the manifold. Cleaned up the end, refitted it. Seemed to drive Ok but idled a bit lean.
    Topped up the oil.

  12. Out of a mg..collected them from an mg parts supplier luckily across the road from Alan schofields in glossop

Opened the parcel from Schofields and took out my new (very robust-feeling and apparently new perfectly designed) sliding door track cover. Started to put a few coats of anti-rust zinc primer on.

to run directly off the solar panel - for a shower option maybe, but mainly because the ‘load’ capability is there on the MPPT controller so why not?
.... although I haven’t wired it up yet. I know it’s pretty simple electrickery and should be within my capabilities (I wired up the solar panel myself) but I’m being a wuss. I’ll be braver tomorrow!
(I am assuming this is an acceptable thing to run from the Load output?)

  18. Just rummaged around for a small self tapper screw to re fix the westy cab bunk that just collapsed when I put the 3 year old on. He wasn't impressed. New brackets, new screws, old bunk. New screws snapped :-(

What happens is that if self tappers go into metal with even a little surface rust, it grips the screws more and they shear or get damaged as you tighten them. Plus they are made out of cheese metal in revenge for the Opium Wars.
