Don't buy the Febi kit, they are appaling - we fit brand new rear ones on the westy, tightened them up to the book and the play was worse than before and wouldn't go away. We posted a video on here & to JK who said yes all of them we have here in stock look like the play is the same.

  9. Something Else the boxes seem to be branded KML

We have had no complaints that I am aware of.

KML is a Chinese bearing manufacturer established in 1980. I have no idea of the quality of their products.

  11. Yeah just got this response from out purchasing team:

Sooooo many bearings are becoming obsolete from OE suppliers

We had a real issue getting them last year. KML is a Chinese brand but the quality so far seems to be good.

I must admit I had never even heard of KML so I did a bit of digging and although not for an automotive application I found this comment in a report of wheel bearings for adventure bikes: “…cheap Chinese bearings that are actually manufactured by a company called KML in Kowloon, Hong Kong, China. There are many other new brands popping up all the time that also rebrand KML and other inferior Chinese brand bearings. KML have both a high and sporadic failure rate…”

And “Many low to medium priced bearings on the market are sold by companies with great sales and marketing skills peddling white-labelled (rebranded) low quality Chinese bearings with wildly exaggerated claims about their level of quality.”

    Alex,
Has your purchasing team tried to source bearings from SKF, FAG, Timken, NSK or any of the other reputable bearing manufactures? They might be more expensive but I’m reasonably sure there are many of us prepared to pay a significant premium for high quality; I know I would rather pay £20 once than £10 three times.

  13. I've got an FAG/SKF bearing supplier near me... might be worth popping in and see what they've got listed in their catalog... Seems odd that FAG would suddenly discontinue 2 whole lines of bearings!!

Actually what do the mexi buses use for bearings?

  14. Thats not stricktly true now is it ?????
    I complained .

  15. NOS FAG ones

  16. update on this one paul ,i went to FAG uk dealer 30 miles away today they dont seem to be able to get the separate outer bearings , they can get inners separate but they have ordered me 2 kits of both inner outer plus seal. The lady told me i should not buy some chinese stuff it is not good. She told me that any FAG bearings that are manufactured else where had to be to original standards , and that chinese FAG ones would be fake . I will hopefully be picking these up this week , we shall see , they are more expensive than any other kits ive found around .Its a shame i had to buy kits as Ihu 1281 had helped me with some inners ,top man .

  17. Well if you can get them, then I'll use my local FAG supplier to get them too... Might have to get a few kits so I'm not waiting on them coming in though :)

Although @Alex VW Heritage you should get onto your purchaser(s) about this, as you can bulk buy for a better discount, and as you well know, people will pay that little bit more for better quality goods
