Would you be cool with a catch on the rear hatch?? I could add an extra pin to the current release rod
Let me go back through the pictures again and have a think Supported at 3 points of a triangle would be the strongest all round though
A locating dowel on the rear hatch that locates into the apex of the curve on the carrier would offer the best support and be a simple solution As long as the dowel has a suitable spreader plate behind it and where it locates into the tube has a rubber or nylon bushing it should be fine
I'm gonna get the bumper all mounted up properly (tow bar on too) and do some deflection/load testing... just see what, if anything, it's going to do!! Then go from there My only issue with the locating dowel on the rear hatch, is that there isn't really anything structural about the panel of the rear hatch
Ive managed to flat back both sides of the rear tinware and get the second coat on one side Hopefully the wet n dry and scotch pads ive ordered will arrive soon as im all out now
Hi, just a question about your roof as I have the same model on my 72 Bay, do you know what make it is. By the way is that Para for Para Reg, I am ex 1 Para and doing a rolling resto on my own van.
Hi craig Im afraid im unsure as to what roof it is and para is just my username paradox shortend down
I was looking at a pic of the landmark carrier today and the landmark locates onto a catch on the hinge panel The landmark carrier sits lower down though It would be interesting to see what danbury did with there design
I think you'd regret having it fixed to the hatch or engine lid - a bit half-arsed as I believe Paul subtly hinted earlier. Not sure I'd want it attached to the bumper either. I'll get me coat...
gingers vw has one of those exact coloured landmarks in his workshop, maybe it still has the carrier on for a bit of detail if you were to consider copying it ooo look what i spy
