  1. Wow that sounds like SOME GRUNT!

  2. Ok so been a long time since I have posted, but not much has happened on the bus due to work and holidays etc, but that's done now so work will start on the bus again.

So first problem back... I done up all the bolts and got the rear near side arch done, went to put the wheel back on today and it won't go in!
I dropped the rear down by 1 inner spline (I think)

    Any suggestions?

    @zed @Paul Weeding ?

  3. I can only assume that I must have dropped it down too much? :s

  4. What wheels are you putting on?

  5. Standard shocks, or lowered ones?

  6. KGB gas-a-just for moderately lowered busses, but it think I figured it out, I think I lowered it by 2 inner splines.
I took it all off and moved it back one and it's all fine now, and the spring plate is still 12mm from sitting on the bottom of the spring plate cover thing

So if I went 2 inners by accident it would have dropped it by 120mm, instead of the 60mm I wanted by 1 inner. I take it 2 inners would mean I can't get the wheels on? Lol

  7. Yeah... Things start getting complicated once you do more than one spline

std is first spline past the bottom and you have to jack up the end to get it on.

  9. Yeah that's confirmed it then, I did 2 inners, now have changed it to one.
    Thanks!

Thought you'd have tried it in a few places. ;)

  11. Nah I just put it all back together and figured it was right! It did look a bit too low when I was doing it lol

  12. Not much of an update, but got he last 3 offside suspension parts in primer,
The rear backing plate is built up already and drum painted, new shock ready to go too.
Just need to paint these bits and inside the rear arch, but I'm still waiting on a coalescer filter for my air fed mask.

  14. right o'
so the vans rear end is all back together. dropped by 1 inner spline each side which should give a 6cm drop. now its time for the front end to get the treatment.

so I tried to take the beam off while in situ like most people said... but nothing was coming off :/ and I couldn't get in there with a hammer to bash it about.
anyway.. got it off in the end...

and after a Marmite load of hammering.. all the bits were off...

  15. for an original beam, it came off really easily, and theres literally no rot!

i'm taking the beam up to Balls'd in Bury st Edmunds on saturday to get beam adjusters fitted. also i'll be replacing the centre steering pin thing..
does anyone know how to check if the ball joints are knackered?
i heard you need a huge splitter to get the spindles off the trailing arms.. but a few hits with a hammer and they were off? :S

  18. Also.. I still have these bits from the steering pin repair kit ...

Any ideas what I need to do with them?

I guess the biggest cap thing is the last to go on, and the washer with tabs goes on the bolt... But any ideas on the rest? @zed ?
