  1. How rude :p

  2. Brilliant, cheers. Tempted to go for the inner just to get that little bit extra of a drop.
But i like zeds idea of being able to see the mark.
    Ill decide when i re-assemble.

  3. Re-assembled the rear brakes today.

Can anyone tell me if they're correct?

  5. Cheers,
Can i leave it like it is or does it need to be the other side of the shoe for a reason?

It'll get more caught up with the handbrake cable like that.

Trust zed , he knows what he is on about . Got my van through the test after advise on rear brakes from zed, suggested something i would never have thought off in a hundred years , days of headscratching for a few mm of weld on the handbrake lever then problem solved

  9. Today's update, not cracked on with much this weekend, been having a clear out and decorating.
But got an hour or so earlier to build up the rear suspension.

Got the spring plate on with new donuts, the freshly painted torsion cover backplate etc, nice new shock.

Think I may have a problem though, I have lowered it by 1 inner spline at the rear,
But it looks a little too low?! It's pretty much rested on the bump stop. And the distance from wheel arch lip to centre of the hub is 10".. Can anyone tell me if I've dropped it too low?

  10. No, that's normal... You need to remove a knobble from the bump stop, as they virtually sit on the stops at the back at stock height!!

  11. Really, blimey. Surely once the glass, engine and gearbox, poptop and interior are in.. There will be pretty much no travel before it hits the bumpstop? I take it that's safe? Lol

  12. Well, your wheels aren't going to fall off ;)

You can always dial the height in once it's all fitted back up

  13. Good point. Ok sweet, wasn't sure if I done it right that's all. Cheers Paul.
Other than that I'm very happy with the way it looks, I'll look forward to getting it back down on the ground lol

  14. I just spent an hour catching up with your resto! Great work. Have you decided where you are getting it painted yet?

  15. Nah not yet, theres simpsons vw in ipswich or norwich classics. So either of them two. When im done with the bodywork ill give them both a bell and get quotes.
Leaning towards simpsons though as they are more of a vw specialist

  16. Those painted parts look great carl:thumbsup:

  17. Have you been to A-List Finishing? I popped in there last week and they have a couple of splitties in there that are great looking paint jobs. Worth a look if not done so already and they are just near the ring road on Jupiter Road.

Cheers para, im well happy with the finish. Little to no orange peel too :)

  19. They have a website. My bus is on there showing the poptop canvas fitted. If you are passing them (or popping into B&M opposite!) nip in and see Steve. He is a great guy and I am sure you will appreciaitte his attention to detail!
