The front and rear tin on the bottom piccy fit pre '71 buses and beetles. When VW welded on the rear valance instead of it being bolted on they went to the type of tinware in the top piccy. The expensive stuff.
My roof corner looks pretty much the same as yours. Will be interesting to see how you go about fixing it.
Hi guys, now trying to sort out the sliding door, only got the door and the van chassis with a couple of lock items for a RHD van with left hand sliding door only, does anybody know/have the list of hinges/brackets/rollers etc I need to complete the fitting of the door and perhaps where I could source a complete set? Regards Yorkieman
what is the difference between real factory windows and panel van windows, does anybody have a picture to show the difference in the openings, i really woukld like to purchase the correct rubbers and strangly my log book says panel van but, the openings don't look like they have been cut out aftrwards, so I am confused.
take a piccie of the window frames dude - either Paul, Zed or one of the others will tell you exactly what you have (or if you have an image of the bus with windows fitted)?
The vin plate means diddly dude... 5 minutes and 2 pop rivets, and the old one is out an a new one is in... The chassis number is stamped in the LH side of the engine bay on the bit of metal work that stands up just behind the engine lid...
That's the one. Does anyone have a link to "that" thread? http://thelatebay.com/index.php?topic=12404.0 Doesn't prove anything of course. I've once or twice had you cut this number out and weld it back into into a new replacement panel. [Edit: Apologies, I've just re-read the thread and see there was nothing to gain. The thread on the link is still a good read though. ]
Blimey zed, I just read that thread and can't believe I missed it earlier this year! Do we know the outcome if it was reregistered as a 79?! Cheers Ps. Good resto Yorkieman
I am hoping to post a few more picture this week, as am busy sourcing loads of bits, to buy over the next month: complete loom red9design front beam Complete set of sliding door parts and glass Complete set of door and window deluxe seals and trim Steering wheel alternator, distributor and leads Most tinware adjustable spring plates complete front disc setup including all pipes and servo etc I'm hoping I win the lottery soon. To help me out does anybody have a picture of the engine support bar and how it attaches to the chassis rails for a 1600 TP late bay 1973, I have the bar but nothing else and would like to find out what else I need to source, Cheers, Yorkieman PS. I haven't even started to look at the inside!!
