  6. Just started thinking about the fuel tank, what are your thoughts on lacquering the tank, would it make it more hardwearing? Can you just buy laquer in a spray tin and is it as good as the stuff you put on bodywork?

  9. Hi Yorkieman,

Question from a long time ago in your process. Where did you get it dipped?

  10. PROSTRIP In Nottingham however, someone told me they don't have a big enough tank now but, it's easy enough to check.

  12. Just priming my new(?) RED9DESIGN front end, had it 12 months in the garage and it had already started to rust in small areas so I decided priming and chassis black was the way forward to match the underside of the van

Next installment of the resto, I refurbed the front backing plates and cut them to fit the Red9design front beam then prepared the beam and coated it and lacquered it frontto protect it before fitting it.
Once on I fitted the front bearings and hubs before trial fitting the wheels just to get it level before sorting the back suspension out. They will have to come off to fit the calipers and discs nearer the end. I finished the roof inside ready for the sound deadening (silent coat) and most of the underside too. Lastly I tried a coat of rattle can Seagull grey bought off ebay on one of the internal catches to check the colour match before I use it on the internal metal parts like steering column tube etc

looking good fella..what are your initial thoughts on the Red9 set up, easy to fit etc?

  16. Very easy to fit the beam its self, I dismantled it all and prepared and coated it before reassembling it a bit at a time myself. My only concern is the length of the bolts that are on the wishbones, they are barely on the nylock part of the nut, so something I am going to have to look carefully at to see if they work loose and maybe get longer ones if possible.

Sounds good, Ive been tempted in the set up for the westy, one day!!

If your concerned about the length of the bolts, I'd not take a chance on them working loose, Id just swap them :)

  18. Just fitted all the rear suspension set up and brake assemblies, having not marked anything before I took it all off (too enthusiastic and green) I guessed the actual position of the spring plates but, was very careful to get each side the same. Will do the actual set up when everythings finished. However, with nothing inside, no engine or gearbox the rear end is up about 2/3 inches will this go down when its all kitted out or does this still sound too high?
