I have. They told us initially we would be finished after the meeting yesterday, but when we went in one at a time they decided they wanted us to stay until the 31st of May. I have just emailed HR and asked them to let me go early as I want to get on with my life and this was not what they told us in the redundancy consultations that have been going on since January.
Some of them mess with your head and hope you have found something else and just leave. Kier have just done the same to one of the lads on site.
Not yet. They seem to have misled us by implying we would go after yesterday's meeting, but it seems their plans haven't gone smoothly and they want us for another couple of month's. Not good considering we have all made plans for new jobs etc.
If you have a formal letter with stated terms showing the end date, then that is the legal termination. If they are changing their minds, then the employees would be under no obligation to stay beyond the end date. However they could ask you to stay on provided they did so on terms agreeable to you and it must be in writing and of course you could ask for more money in compensation. Stand your ground and be firm with them. Speak to the HR.
I think that says you will be made redundant after that meeting being held at that day and time. They haven't given you a date yet
I'd agree with that. Usually after that (I assume second) consultation meeting you will normally get another letter giving end date etc. On both redundancies I have been through I had to work my notice period as well, how hard I worked during the notice period might be a different thing.
So you still have a job for 4 months, if I understand that correctly. Having to work 4 weeks of it is just your normal notice period I would assume
I finish at the nd of May now, instead of yesterday, which we were all under the impression we were. The notice period of 12 weeks will begin at the end of April and they now want/ need us to work 4 weeks of that notice
Buying and selling classics can be quite an earner if you buy at a good price and get one requiring little work . Mate of mine drives tanker artic on cement runs out of Waterhouses and Castleton ...well all of them . Told me he gets tired more often these days particularly in the dark winters . The shortage of HGV mechanics is turning out to be a real problem for hauliers and HGV garages .
Unless you have something in writing to and specifically naming you I think you will have to wait. Lucky you having to work only 4 out of 12.
