Well, the paintwork looks good but I'm not sure the masking tape door hinges will work as well as the traditional metal hinges.

  3. 95% of the spraying is now complete. I had a go at wet flatting/colour sanding the doors and the polished with G3 and G10. Very pleased with the results. Got half the bus done now & hope to complete the polishing next weekend.

  5. 7 years? Wow, most cars built in the 70s went rusty after 7 years! This one is getting better.
    Fantastic paint job!

  13. Looks good, and it was good to meet you today down at Mark's. Do you work next door? love to see your bus in the flesh sometime, presumably your not a million miles away, may be a beer?

  14. Cheers mate, it was good to meet you too. Glad to see that your bus had passed. Had to get back to work earlier, so couldn't hang around for a longer chat. I work nearby at a print and packaging company, but live miles away in West Sussex! I was dropping of my Golf off for repair, the turbo packed up on the way to work! At first I thought a pipe had blown off from the intercooler, but it turns out that the turbo's at fault. I take it you are local to Marks?

  15. Thank you all for your kind words. I do not have much of an update in the way of pictures. I have now flatted down all the paintwork bar the roof section. Going to attack it with the polisher,G3,G10 and Finness it at the weekend.

  16. The paint code is 4035 which is a colour I chose after spending ages going through the colour swatches at the local paint shop. It's called Esmeralda Green on the tin. Looks a better colour in the flesh that it does on the pc.

  17. Their not a perfect fit by any stretch. There are some misalignment issues with the ns A post which I should have addressed when fitting the arch. If you look back on an earlier post on page 6 you will see what I had to do to minimize the gap with the front panel on the ns. Also welded the arches on too high!

  18. Definitely gets my vote for best resto EVER

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

Having followed this thread I hope that doesn't bite your arse when you fit the seals, they need a gap so they don't foul the arch and peel out of the channel. :(

  20. I hope so too Zed! I have the seal fitted on the n/s which is the worst one and it seems ok at the moment. Fingers crossed for the other side. Don't fancy doing the arches again.
