  7. This wasnt intended to be a subaru bashing thread. Far from it. It was prompted by someone elses post and advice that it would cost the same to go to type 4 from type 1 as it would to go subaru. If i had the spare cash id love to have a scoobie fitted. Then again i wouldnt mind going big bore on a type 4.

Whats the cost of going scoobie as opposed to going type 4 i wonder. Its a bit subjective as it depends what you put in. If youd been astute and bought @pkrboo s engine and box yound have gone type 1 to type 4 fi for less than 3k icluding yer garage bill i reckon. Similar bargains are out there to be had!

My mate fitted a T4 to my early it was a right you know what, we had to cut the rear valance as the early is solid, and the support bar just wouldnt play game, I have a job to take the offside rocker cover off, but the bus pulls like a train and apart from an oil leak I'm very happy:thumbsup:

  12. I think most of us have been bashed so much that we no longer care what the haters care. The cost depends upon who does it, mines been well worth it.

Most of it is just mickey taking as @Dicky says. The rest is thinly veiled trolling.

  20. All I remember is when my uncle had his 1972 crossdresser (currently owned by brother number one can you believe!) it started every time when had cold winters all the Fords and British Leylands would not start my uncle had great pleasure telling my Dad who owned a Ford !

I think as long as a old bus is maintained they will go on for ever, although I have been on a recovery truck :(
When my engine dropped a valve but hey ho, anyway I like the sound of a air cooled engine so mine will always have a air cooled one sitting in the back.
