It doesn't actually bother me either way, I'm not going abroad and if I did and it broke I'd get parts posted over and mend it anyway. I so often come across peeps who's holidays have been ruined and turns out to be the points or something silly when they get it back to blighty.

Mmmm I thought they might have replied to this by now, even if it was to contradict what I wrote!

  5. It's probably opened up a whole can of worms for them.
They will need to get things 100% right before they publish anything on the Internet.
Give them time, I am sure they will keep us informed.

  6. been to France twice in the pick up and got their insurance and was under the idea the van would be repatriated home if all else fails. That's what I was lead to believe.

  7. so if you went to France and broke down and cherished wouldn't bring your van home

how far do you think they would get if you took them to the small claims court and used their recording of your telephone conversation against them ?

  8. How many off us record our phone calls.
Think we should make it common practice off it, to be used as evidence.

It would have helped me a few weeks ago when dealing with a large PC company whos customer not so helpful lied through her teeth to me to the point off giving me her incorrect name.

If you tape them you have to tell them and vicky verky. It's all good though.
However, having dealt with cherished I'm fairly sure they weren't pulling a fast one, they seemed good chappies to me. In my case they volunteered the info. I only went with them as a voucher for being a good egg on here was obviously going to make them the most competitive. The Euro cover was neither here nor there - like RR my passports gone awol.

So, let's give them a chance to lick their wounds and lets see what the response is.

Ill sort their log in when at a pc, I like cherished and jk and vwheritage amongst others as the customer service is brilliant IMO and that counts for a lot

  15. Their customer service was excellent when I did my insurance through them and I couldn't fault it. It was refreshing to speak to someone on the phone who straight away knew about my vehicle and wasn't wild guessing what it was and it's true value, unlike some other so called specialists who questioned why was an old pick worth so much.

  16. YEAH , i had that same experience , "we are specialists ,we know your requirements re bay ins."then found myself explaining in detail what a 41 year old bus is, and why it is worth what i value it as, (not with "cherished" a. n. other known camper ins. co.)i shall follow this posting with interest , usual m.o.>recommendations from bus users/owners worth 100 adverts !(imo)

To be clear, their customer service has always been bang on, and I agree it's refreshing not to have to go through the whole explaining what a bus is thing. Their prices are spot on too.
In this case they've made a mistake which is going to lead to them contacting EVERY single classic policy holder who has taken out breakdown cover.
