No!! We don't get it often enough to give it away, this has to be the best start to the ski season we've had in the past 10 years.
They were still digging out the car park as we left for the first patrol this morning Patrolling the easy way
We had more snow overnight, will someone please uncover my ski-doo. Moon set over the mountain & up pops the sun with the snow guns still running More storms predicted for later in the day
I'm a ski man although I am tempted to try a snowboard .... but only if no one is looking & never in uniform, the rule (unofficial) is if you fall while in uniform it costs you a case of beer, this is for both the patrollers & ski instructors, we usually have a lot of beer by the end of season farewell party. Sorry That's our job
Time to dig a lift out of the snow Sometimes you have to stop everything as the natives wander through Not sure if it was @bernjb56 or @JennyB posing as a wombat Ms.T just phoned to say that it's snowing at home
This mornings boring sunrise after the storms of yesterday Really tempted to put first tracks onto the beautifully groomed slope It's going to be busy, apparently there is already an 8 mile long traffic tail back to get up here, glad we got here 3 hours ago.
They always seem to be looking for cooks & bottle washers Be prepared for rubbish wages, expensive food & drink & accommodation (unless you like sharing with lots of people). A job like mine rarely comes up & you really need to know someone to get in, I've been doing volunteer ski patrol since the mid 1970's & this is my first full time paid year, this has been my choice as I could have gone pro about 20 years ago but needed a proper year round job then.
Yet again, great pictures. It's 6.00am here, grey and wet, as I'm getting a coffee ready to take the eldest up to the fridge at Leeds. Not quite the same.
Who knows what goes through a wombats mind, his/her burrow is probably somewhere near & as that is probably the normal route it takes then no one will stop it. They are like a battle tank on legs & as they are a protected creature then human activity must work around them
Why do you have a fridge in Leeds and not at home in the kitchen - surely the leccy isn't cheaper in Leeds
@Jono1249 & so another day draws to a close, more snow predicted tonight & the snow guns are already running. I was supposed to have tomorrow off but it looks like some of the volunteer patrollers would rather be doing something else Never mind, the eldest unmarried is down for a couple of days & as she's a volunteer patroller she can come with me even though it's not really her turn. Shame she can't actually patrol with me but she'll get to ski with her friend Brooke who is also a volunteer Maybe eldest unmarried will drive home & that way I can have a couple of beers
This is fantastic. Really brightens up my day. I doesn't look like funds will stretch to a mountain trip, this year, so it's nice to see what we're missing. Going to take the 4 year old to the fridge at Casvegas and see if he takes to it. The 8'year old started at 5 and she is really good now.
So you go to the Lions session on Sunday mornings? They do a 'mini mayhem' race every now and again for the young ones.
She used to goto the kids workshop on Sundays when Michelle and Pete did it. You could book 8 2 hour sessions adhoc for £15 a week. But then they chaged it to an 8 week set course of lessons at £400. So its a non starter.
