I'd never get any work done if I was there... I'd be too busy staring in wonder at that fabulous scenery! Fantastic photo, TD... well worthy of a poster/mouse mat/tee-shirt etc!
It's not hard to work when you spend most of the day outside on the snow. We got a few runs in one of the out of bounds areas just before lunch, we call it "training"
Don't think I could ever get bored of these fantastic pictures Don, great views, stunning scenery - just superb
We don't have anything like that for summer training @Jono1249 If we want to train in our summer it either means going to Japan or North America. It was supposed to be cloudy & overcast this morning instead we've been greeted by this
Our lovely clear & sunny morning has now become this Time to go back out for a couple of hours & keep an eye on things
Im off there soon as me guts healed! Youngest has a skiing trip next year and weve never done it before. Shame I cant nip to @Terrordales for some lessons!!!!
I take lessons every ski season, some through this new job & some I pay for (albeit at a very reduced rate), there's always something new to learn & you do pick up bad or lazy habits as the season/trip goes on. Group lessons are good but if you can afford it then private one on one lessons are the way to go, I always go private & it's amazing how much you can pick up & how much more skiing you can do even if it's only a couple of hours. If you're just beginning then I'd go for group lessons with a a bunch of other people who are at the same standard as you, once you have the fundamentals then go for one on one coaching.
We're with the Lions Ski Club at Castleford Snozone and it's where we learnt to ski. It's on 8am - 10am on Sunday mornings and takes any age (I started when I was 47!) and standard. There has been a few changes recently where Snozone wanted to teach all the beginners and stopped the Lions from doing them but I will check that out if you are interested. The coaching is free and the cost of the two hours is about £16 but there is a membership cost of around £50 per year for a family. You can have a couple of 'taster' sessions before joining for the year. Check out Lions Ski Club website. I would put a link on this but I'm pants on the computer. Hope this helps and if you have any questions, let me know and i'll find out for you as I'm going up this Sunday for the first time in months as Sian normally trains with the race team on Monday nights.
There you go @Jono1249 http://www.lions-skiclub.org/ It's come over really nasty so we've retreated to the base for a warm up. This is one of our happy volunteer patrollers on his way to do an afternoon shift We're staying inside for another hour
Bruno at the coffee shop just offered something a bit more warming to go in our coffees, home made grappa, unfortunately we can't drink on duty & we do have random drug & alcohol checks. So a couple of ristretto will just have to do ....... & maybe one of Roberta's home made cakes
John Muir Project & The Lomond Hills, Falkland Scotland. It's a tough job but someone's got to do it.
Another 500mm of snow overnight, we've done the morning sweep of the mountain & they're still clearing snow down at the bottom of the hill Now it's time for breakfast, it's been a hard 3 or so hours
I keep pressing like, because I would LIKE to be there (and because there is no "well jel" button!) Great photos.
