Meanwhile the nob has fallen out of my shaft?
No obvious way it was held in, just a spring & button.

Measured the fuel pressure on the SSP mechanical pump. Just over 3PSI.

Dropped the progressive secondary main down to 125 from 130 as the power valve was kicking in and making it run so rich it was losing power..

Nearly crossed the thread on the air corrector jet when I took it out. Had to clean up with an M8x1.0 tap..

Then had to make a new carburettor float chamber gasket and found I had run out of my favourite 1.0mm gasket paper.. so I had to recycle the old one very carefully..

    More eBay stuff to order...

  6. Got it, its just a loose button with spring.
The collar on the gear linkage pushes the end of the pin in to the slot in the gear linage collar.
Sorted now, much better than it was but im sure the right size bush would be better!

Look more closely, the edges were peened over to stop it springing out. Balance it back together like everyone else - it makes it tricky to fit but trying to fix it probably would not be easy.

    No, you won't.

  9. ^this, unfortunately. I had to scrub my original one and put it back in. German ones are NLA.

  12. Thats crazy it must be 1mm out.
Whats the original made of, mine was like something off a shower curtain.
    Surely it should be polyurethane?
Maybe a two part delron bush would do it.
Wish i’d measured the hole diameter

  13. Just one of the many changes the Brazilians made, I suppose. Not sure what the material is...some kind of transparent plastic?

I'm surprised no-one's started remanufacturing them, as they're a known issue. Could make up a plate out of nylon with the correct size hole in, screwed to the crossmember? Something I considered, but then reused my old one.

It’s a fiddle but you can make them fit snuggly with a shim about 2mm wide in the groove.

Discovered the cover plate at the base of the steering column had popped out from under the washers around the screws. The screws were still tight.
Probably a bit of violent cornering in the Mendips, took a few corners quite fast, took a slightly different route from the A37 to the A303 via NT Stourhead, and the roads were not as familiar - the satnav took us further east, so kept coming to unexpected corners.

As a result the horn wire had popped off the tag on the column. Which it did three more times before I got it back together.

Once I had removed the steering wheel to allow the outer column tube to be lifted up by removing the four screws at the top of the column (its a crossover type column) it was quite quick to replace the wire on the tag, harder to arrange it so it didnt catch on the bolt heads on the steering coupler - despite it being threaded through the loop on the cover, it catches sometimes.
