Pulled it out of its house for some photos for the insurance, took it a couple of miles and back for a spin and put it away again.

Look what I found in a box of bits, I have no idea when I bought it and I guess I didn’t fit it because I didn’t have a wiring diagram – now I do. I listened to the sound on 12voltplanet, I wouldn’t call it a warble but it’s much better than the strangled buzz that I have at the moment. IMG_7506 (Medium).JPG

  15. Not perfect, but certainly much better than the constipated mosquito sound. I would've preferred tones like on a modern Golf, but they're all generated by the dash unit itself.

Still sounds ok: L to sidelight line, I to ground through the door switch, C to switched ignition

I just took the dash lighting feed and fed it through a buzzer and a diode to the driver’s door light switch.
Nothing has melted or exploded - so far, it’s been on for a couple of years and surprisingly still works.
I can adjust the volume of my lights-on alarm, which is just as well as it’s annoyingly loud.

  17. Took the chance to look at why reverse was difficult to find. All nylon bushes were replaced about three years ago with the ball in the nose cone so presumed it was a worn pin on the stick. I made a new pin slightly oversize and fitted it. Still no reverse.
Checked the link from rod to box and the new cage had come loose from the collar that bolts it to the shift rod. I took it off and beat the little chinesium piece of poo with a big hammer to stop it spinning. Now I have a very clean very smooth and very tight gear change.

Need to take it for a spin as it’s not moved in a month :(

Took it for a spin as it was quite bright and dry this morning. Drizzled a bit on the way back. George chewed the cap from one of the seat belt mounting bolts whilst I was queuing at the Stanley Road Bunanza fund raising cake sale  . Must swap the ignition switch as it's really on its last legs.

Was 'Stanley Road Bunanza' the extended version of Paul Weller's album?

Assuming George is a dog?! ;)
