    Investigated Gusbus' oil leak again.

Same left hand rocker cover has blown the gasket out as previous oil leak.

Will investigate more tomorrow, tea was ready and it was also time to walk Douglas :)

  2. I tried with this kit..

Gave up as parking seemed a problem... going the Snotty nirvana route now as relay only cost a tenner!..

Now just got to order new washer hoses as they seem to leak now a proper pump is feeding them...and replace the nozzles as they obviously snap when you try to remove them to get to the back to connect...

If they show signs of buckling as you fit the gaskets, trim them to lie flat.

Cheers Mike, my plan is to investigate further tonight! I will look out for that.

Rocker gaskets don't "blow out". Fitter error. ;)

Today I have repurposed my redundant fan switch for my wideband so I can switch on the ignition to read/write curves to the 123 without powering up the wideband sensor heater as well.

What I should be doing is sanding rusty bits, red oxiding them and cavity waxing. One front arch in particular must have missed the up and under coat or something.

  9. Used up some of those pesky white fuses..they were probably going off anyway..

How many more before I find that short.. it's down to front left side light!.. from noticing rear right light out.

Always a light if some kind goes in the week before MOT!

  10. If it’s the LH sidelight, check the connections to the bulbholder on the headlight aren’t the wrong way round.

  11. Yeah.. had a feeling it might have been but not touched those for ages.... has managed to not short for at least a year maybe two.. must have been insulated by paint on the back of the bowl...live wire goes to the smaller spade if anyone else has golf units in

  12. Can be a prob if you’ve been fiddling with them. The stock bulbholder isn’t polarised, so you can connect them so there’s a dead short on the sidelight circuit. Had me guessing, sussed it after I’d blown a few fuses.

A classic, well two classics here are replacing the rim screw with a self tapper plus bad luck how the cable folds up as you put the light in.
Replacing with bigger or adding another earth point self tapper on the inside of the bowl and again digging into the cable.

  14. Stuck big leisure batt in, toasty warm with the Ebers going. Very civilised.

Don't worry its not blown it out :)

It looks like it kinked inwards, its been fine for just short of two years.

Cleaned up my tailgate lock and lubed it with graphite powder

Then decided to strip the window regulator I'd replaced to see what broke. I ground off the rivets to split it open.

I cleaned up the little drive cog which looks in good nick. The problem became evident underneath.

Now if anyone has a regulator, offside or nearside, that's knackered for a different reason I could make one out of the two.

I realised that with the original regulator, putting a sawn off masonry nail through it as a pin restored drive to the cracked casting , and the winder worked again when I bolted it together
