  1. I think upholsterers fix such things with wire crimps. My bloke repaired several of my springs.

  2. Eek!

Almost as bad as driving off down the road with all your wheel nuts finger-tight

    Project last ditch demist...
Cables now both attached and adjusted to fully open.
I had this 3" fan in the pipe under the cab floor.

It worked for a few years but ground to a halt with a burning electrical smell.

The part holding the motor has melted in the furnace-like heat. I thought it might, all heating systems blow cold air in.
    IMG_20200927_110911933.jpg

Which has caused the fan to hit the case and jam.

When not running and making your hairs stand on end with the racket it made, similar to fingernails on a blackboard, it's been blocking the duct?

Plan is rip out the guts, reinstall to fill the gap and see how effective it is without the fan that it's always had.

Did you buy the Rule one to replace it? The fins look small on your old impeller, so the middle bit does look like it'd block a lot of flow.

Sanding back, filling and crying. Bloody rust bucket this is the good side. I won't be using the transit place I goto for welding again either!![IMG]

Yes quite different to yours. In the end I thought I ought to look what happened to the last one. I think I can live without it but if not it'll be easy to pop another in there, the wiring is all in and ready.
Here's another photo, the propeller was in good condition apart from scraping the sides but hiding underneath, the motor "cradle"...

    Doesn't look very well!

  9. Are those bilge fans meant to take heat? I suspect not.

Probably not. It'll be interesting to see how long mine lasts.

  11. A week ;)?

With heating in reasonable shape, that air's bloody hot!

    Yes it is!
They are clearly not meant for hot air, try finding one under 10" dia that is!

  13. Where’s your snail fan?

Well, with the current climate a week's normal driving will take about 2 years. I'll take that :D

That's handy, an automatic warning when to buy a new one!

I never had or wanted one making a mess in my engine bay and my cooler pipes are in the way on one side.

  18. Taken the fuel cap back plate off ready to change the rubber connection.
Had to scrape around the screws to get them undone - thankfully managed to. Then the obligatory masses of paint just pinged off looking at it.

Question: Do folk paint this part or am I better off just keeping it greased? Have had problems undoing the cap in the past.

Whoever sprayed the van just sprayed everywhere!!
Didn’t realise these scratchings of paint were going down in to the fuel tank. Solves the mystery of where the flakes inside it came from though.

Another reason to query painting the locking/backing plate. Don’t really want paint flakes clogging the fuel tank filter - considering how often the cap comes off and fuel filler in for the mpg I get.

  19. Yep. Clouds of greenish gas when the PVC breaks down will let you know it needs replacing

Seriously though, there's a guy on here who ran one these for a couple years successfully. Can't remember who it was.
