Serious question. Are you still enjoying bay ownership?

    Suffering with my health at the moment and its currently missing the rear arch and corner (I was only dealing with a few little rust spots).
    So I am struggling with it at the moment but once I have my mojo back and we can get out camping I will be back on track.

  2. Went to Dorset steam fair , awning up etc etc , 3rd morning woke up on the inflatable bed, cramp in both ham strings, like a bloomin beached whale I was . Any way upshot is , have purchased a caravan for overnighting ( not towed by the bus ) . Bus now used for day trips to the beach , sensible solution , enjoy the bus , and now enjoy the camping .

  3. Yes, I still think that buying a bay 6 years ago was the best thing I've done. I enjoyed learning how to fix and maintain the old 1600 but now that I've got a Scooby all I have to worry about is doing the odd bodge repair on the bodywork. The Scooby means that the kids now use it a lot. No intention of ever selling it as I would have to get something else and that would be more expensive and less interesting.

  18. I have owned my old van for over 20 years and used to use it as a daily, but a couple of things have stopped me doing this;
    1, Fuel economy - the fuel gauge packed up and I fill it every 200 miles, on one occasion it ran out at 196 miles - 13.6 mpg
    Easy to sort - I bought a more economical car - a Jaguar XJ-8
    2, Cost of bits - I needed a replacement RHD sliding door and ended up importing one from South Africa at a cost of £575
    Equally easy to sort - dailies don't have those sort of costs - so I bought a Scirocco & 4 new winter tyres for £578.
    Now I have three cars where I used to have just the one, my life is more interesting, I dress better (to drive the Jaguar) and
    although the old camper is only driven occasionally, we spent eight occasions camping/holidaying/at festivals this year,
    they were all bloody good fun and felt very, very special.
    It no longer spends time deteriorating on the drive, it resides in a luxury car port, has a mains hook up, an oil filled radiator
    and provides an extra room here at the 'Towers'. To paraphrase Ronald MacDonald, Bay Ownership - I'm still Loving it!

  19. The weather is horrendous at the moment.
    I've just been round the m25 in the worst weather i've ever driven the bus in, I could barely see for all the rain and it was really strong sideways wind.
    I just slowed down and turned Radcliffe and Maconie up.
    I'm not even going camping.............but i'm still enjoying bus ownership

  20. Yes. Planning next year's trips andthe winter/spring campaign of jobs to do.
