Stopped in at a fairly large Tesco today (not my supermarket of choice, bloody high street destroying, global domination merchants, but they do have nice loos you can sneak into without buying anything, and a large carpark for leaving my truck whilst I use the facilities! ;) ) and there was hastily photocopied signs on the door saying Please Do Not Abuse Our Staff. What have we come to when there has to be a notice on a door reminding us not to abuse other human beings? Over Loo roll and pasta? What a mess.

Had a trip to my local Morrison’s to do a small shop for my family and get some essentials for a 73yr old drink dependant friend who has Alzheimer’s (I can’t leave a load of drink in his house or he drinks it all). A person would think the apocalypse was upon us.

I’ve been told that the local 24hr Asda is closing at midnight and opening at 6:00am to allow the shelves to be stacked.......I bet folk will stay queuing at 5:00am so as to rush in and grab everything.

The above photos were at 5:30pm so if I was working I would consider fibbing and stay off work allegedly self isolating just to be able to get to the shops to get something for my family to eat.

  11. Lidl was devoid of any food stuffs at 6.30 pm..... we are virtually out of meat, rice & pasta.... if the virus doesn’t get us we will starve to death.
Mrs ST’s workplace sent home the vulnerable today & anyone with a BMI of over 40..... that’s all we need, the fatties being let out to shop for England!!

  12. Is there a chance that by writing on threads like this we are fuelling the fire?

  14. But threads like this are on all sorts of forums. I know you'll argue back, that's what forums are for, but just think about it, if nobody was posting pictures of empty shelves on here, as well as forums about every other subject, and also all the social media channels, nobody would be panicking about missing out on all the fresh bread, milk etc tomorrow, and so wouldn't go out and buy a week's worth whether they need it or not

  15. It's a hard call tbh.
I've got to make sure my granddaughter has baby milk ect.
I was in a small co-op in hawkshead we are on hols due to no ski trips some lad brought all the bread. Brown ,white, wholemeal the lot
What's he going to do with it all I'm talking 13 odd loaf's
He was just grabbing stuff very sad times

  16. An example for you. I told my apprentice this morning that I hadn't brought my usual slices of bread (to make my sandwiches) to work this morning as the shop was empty at 6.30am. He replied with "tell me about it, I bought two loaves yesterday morning, then when I went back out in the evening to but another loaf, everyone had stripped the shelves bare!". He didn't understand that it was people like him who had stripped the shelves bare by buying just one or two times what they would normally buy and need.

  17. Me too re the baby milk. At the moment there always seems to be some on the shelves so I'm leaving it there until I need it. Same with nappies etc

Too be honest, if a family of five (like I have) has to self isolate themselves for up to 2 months, you can see where all the food and bog roll is going. Sometimes, it’s not greed, but self preservation. I used to laugh at these ‘American Prepper’ vids on YouTube, but ... ...
