without a doubt, but here and now is where i'm living not in 2026 when (probably) all old vehicles will be limited miles and not deemed safe or some such guff.

oh and technically you have more than 15,000 to spend on fuel as if i only do 1.5 times your mpg i will still put fuel in but just less so for every 1000 you use i only use 750 (possibly - im poo at maths) but you get the drift, also my maintainance and insurance is dearer.............. damn i think i'll buy a bay!

  3. Yes yes yes
This is the point of it and what it's all about.:)
All the modern vw ford whatever
    All very nice
    But
A veteran car is a veteran car
A vintage car is a vintage car
A classic car is a classic car
A modern car is none of the above
You won't see many vehicles built now
    Driving around in 40 years
They will fail the emission tests for a start
So enjoy them while you can
Maybe they will be towed on a trailer
    Behind a Tesla to shows
Thats is if anyone will be bothered:)

What utter nonsense! I know for a fact you can't fit a rock n roll bed in a Morris Minor, plus there's no awning rail

  7. my maintainance is free and simple...:D

Plus I have the five year mot...

Plus insurance 120 euro unlimited milage...

You wanna buy a poo T25?:D

tbh if I was you I would have done the same ,i've owned some lovely bays , but worrying about rust/bangs/knocks was too much ,even thought they did'nt cost a lot ,it was like a hot potatoe...

I will get another bay when I have more time , but it will be cheap and rusty...:hattip:

I've had quite a few vw vans for my work as a sparky over the years. My current one is a T5 Kombi bought new in 2013, replacing a 2003 t4 888 X-pack that was so good I kept it for nearly ten years! That replaced a 1999 T4! Etc etc. I've noticed over the years that although the spec increases, the quality decreases. It's great to jump in the T5 every morning and know it'll start, and take me in comfort and high speed anywhere I want to go at around 33mpg. But it should, it's new! It has a basic seat bed in the back and we have a awning when we use it to camp, but we rarely use it for camping as the thing has near to ZERO soul! The missus hates it and to be fair we both can't wait to get our bay on the road so we can 'enjoy' camping as its meant to be. BASIC! The holiday will start as soon as we leave our lane, with the journey. If we break down we will try to take it in our stride. We will use A roads rather than motorways, stop at village cafes rather than service stations and generally slow right down to suit the old bay!

I'm guessing our bay has already cost more to put together than the t5 cost new and the mpg will be high teens, but it will be fun and it will transport us back to a time when our lives ran at a slower pace! It should be easy to fix and reliable because we have put the time in to fix it up proper. The upside is that the bay should be a good investment at a time of awful interest rates but I can't ever see us selling. Besides it'd break the kids hearts. The T5 however will probably be changed early next year for another van but this time I might very well stray to another brand...

I re-joined my old company in April after a two year absense , they were replacing the fleet of 20 transporters with Transits , when I asked why they claimed they'd had nothing but trouble with the VWs ...
